Woke early in a Parisian hotel room to listen to SEN on afl.com. That was a waste of a sleep. This better be a major wakeup call like the Saints game early in 2005 and the Cats did when they lost early in 2007.

No excuses but I knew were were doomed when I woke to the news that LRT was out. We could do without B2 or LRT but not both. What's wrong w Braddy?

The real test will be next weekend. If we bounce back we still have a 2010 season but if we capitulate again we can use this as a training season.

btw Pike wasn't mentioned much by SEN - and certainly not in our worse players (Moore was - was he overwhelmed by the pressure?). How did he go?

Just one of those games. I've seen Plugger have them. If the ball aint coming down and when it is it's on top of your head with the games best FB all over you, you're never going to shine.

I hope Ablett goes to the Gold Coast because we have very little hope of beating Geelong otherwise. If you can catch him he has to be tackled around the arms.
Top shelf skills at hitting their targets The Cats.
What a relief to get that over with.
Well done Carlton, for beating them, we had no idea how to to do it.

Maybe the gods are saving all our "miracle against-all-odds win" cosmic points for the Collingwood game.

            Maybe.

its odd to see us thrashed we usually get some junk time goals and mount some sort of comeback

Well, we had a lot of kids against a lot of blokes. We also had 2's players. We did not have some of the best on the ground due to injury. We had some good moments, and a whole lot of crap ones. BUT

Red Rohan has shown his potential, and his dogged persistence, and he is good.
                Cheese, .....
Jesse showed pockets of who and what he could be come as an AFL player, and I hope he grasps this and moves forward.
Smiffy is a keeper and so cool under pressure.
                Mummy worked his butt off.
Pyke did what he could with what he had. He is not going to set the world on fire, nor will he completely douse the flames either.
Teddy, oh Teddy, worked so hard but.......
Jet, the red boots didn't help. Your first goal is not the most important reason you are in the game.....

The coaches have some work to do, especially the forward coach.

That was a pretty bludy ordinary effort, especially late on in the piece where we gave up the ghost. Midfield was absolutely hammered today, and we really missed LRT down back. I thought till halftime, well in fact till 30 seconds before half time we had hung in really well, considering the very ordinary umpiring in the first half. But then there was that dreadful soft goal we let Blake have and the floodgates were open.

As for Barlow, I don't care what anyone says, he is bludy ordinary to say the least. Might have kicked a goal but that was about it! His disposal is terrible, he is as slow as a 90 year old man with his decision making. If he doesn't play again for the 1st's team, I'll die happy. Thats not to say he wasn't the only player that was terrible today- there were plenty that fell into that category. Plenty also tried hard, but when you can't get a clearance (Ablett probably had as many as our whole midfield put together lol), then we aren't going to beat anyone, let alone Geelong.

Can't believe Braddy getting some stick. The commentators might have been having a joint pull over how awesome Scarlett was, but we had a decent delivery into Bradshaw about twice in the whole game. He can't kick goals if we don't kick it to him and considering the Midfield dominance of Geelong, I could of comfortably played on Braddy today and looked like a world beater!

Very poor performance and we need to rebound well next week against the Dogs.

Every team has a shocker at some stage...and if we need any excuses, today was the day! No LRT, No CBolts, no Seaby..Barlow at his lowest level..a first year player on his first game..another first year on his 5th or 6th game..travelled ..played the best team of the last ten years on their impregnable home ground, and met the best player on the decade on a four brownlow vote day![
Disappointing , none the less, but not despair time!

after that just want the dogs game to get here and for us to win and put this behind us. I think the most bothering part to me is that it seems other people will see today as some sort of vindication for the few we have just won a few easy games so far and arent any sort of threat.

Chin up - there's always next week!

And at least we learned (or had confirmed) a few things!!
                            - Bradshaw doesn't belt anyone when it's not going his way
                            - Ablett is a freak and whatever the cats say about the strength of their overall group, if he goes coastal, they are toast.
                            - Barlow has big big issues ... sadly. Obviously not the best game to be thrown back into ... perhaps one more chance to impress, or the papers get stamped 'never again'.
                            - LRT not deserving of the slings and arrows often sent his way. His value to the team is significant.
                            - Jetta knows how to run, but needs to work on disposal
                            - Mike Pyke is worth every bit of effort being put into him - held his own pretty well today and took a great contested mark on the wing
                            - maybe have been a bit dazzled by our own quick form in opening rounds. A few times tried the flashy stuff today but came a gutser
                            - umpires suck.
                            - Kardinia Park should be razed. Or left just for the cats to play with themselves on.

Bring on the dogs next week!

                              This is just ridiculous.

Whilst I was disappointed today, Geelong are a great team, Ablett is a great player.
The cohesion Geelong have is far better than any other team running around ATM.
I reckon any of the top sides would have struggled to contain Geelong today, they were on song.

We are still 5-2, having lost to 2 of last years Grandfinalists, nothing to be ashamed about.
Their backline were OK, but their midfield led by Ablett and Selwood, were amazing to watch, and the Forward pressure on our backs was what really killed us.

Great win, by a great team.

Looking forward to a win next week.
