Where is jetta's best position?

I thought that was Jetta's best game by far. He chased hard and defensive efforts vastly improved on previous weeks.
No doubt the speed of senior footy is hard to adjust to as would learning roles and opponents. That tackle he laid on Addison should have been a free in Q1. The ticky touchwood 50 against him on Eagleton in the next play very harsh.

our whol midfield needs to step up and realise that the top teams midfields are a LOT harder to tackle and outplay, playing the bottom 4 teams made us way to complacent.

Jetta needs to put on about 10kg of muscle before he plays regularly in the midfield. One good hit from Lingy or Campbell Brown and he'd crumble to bits. I don't think its realistic to expect more from him at the moment. Leave him on the wing and in the gym and lots of kangaroo steaks for dinner.

I reckon the Ins for this week should be Vogels, Moore.

and the Outs McVeigh and Malceski.

McVeigh just seems too slow for AFL footy. He has had the best run of any player in the last five years to prove himself yet he does not seem to be developing at all.

Vogels looks a very good player and we should be developing him. We need young KPP to come through when the champs retire.

Moore looks to have the right skills and timing for AFL but I could just as easily be convinced of the merits of one of the other young mid fielders, such as Schmidt, Willougby,etc.

A lot of us had high hopes for Vogels, and thought McVeigh was not going to make it and had too many chances. Problem is that times have changed, and McVeigh is now a certified gun, who had a terrific game against the Bulldogs, while Vogels is no longer an AFL player.

There were quite a few who had doubts on McVeigh at that stage. I was very bullish on him when first drafted, his hands were great in traffic and he looked real classy, albeit in the seconds. Unfortunately he took forever to make the jump from that level to the seniors and I also gave up on him around that time.

I guess the point behind dragging out the old post is to see that most (well, all but one actually) have moved on and now acknowledge McVeigh as the gun that he is ......

However I was referring to the Vogels quote added to the current McVeigh opinion. So I stand by my original post.

i've been goin to the footy for 20 years and i know impact players ... perhaps i was harsh on mcveigh for the doggies game but my point is we have all seen indiviual efforts by players that actually turn the course of a game...goodes, kirk and bolton have all done it why can't mcveigh ... he should be pushing to be a captain of the club by now ... i am frustrated that despite getting the ball 30 times he wasn't able damage the doggies on the scoreboard. It reminds of when teams used to not worry about robert harvey getting the ball because he never really hurt you with his possesions.

And on vogels stil a mystery to me why he wasn't given more time ... a lot worse players have stayed on our list ... probably a non-playing issue. I hope that stirs you lot up!

This is ridiculous. You think McVeigh doesn't hurt the opposition? McVeigh, along with Shaw and Goodes, were the only players who didn't put their heads down on the weekend. If it weren't for them, it would have blown out dramatically. McVeigh busted a gut all day, and was one of our best. All this post suggests is that in your 20 years of watching football, you've failed to grasp the fact that the blokes like McVeigh and Harvey who run all day and create without kicking the miracle goals or busting 20 tackles are still incredibly important, and are the lifeblood of any good team. Granted, McVeigh doesn't have the consistency of Harvey, but he's still a great player. How you could bag Harvey is beyond me, he was a fantastic player. Yes, lacked slightly in the hurt factor, but made up for it by being a prolific ball-winner, a clearance merchant, a great decision maker and incredibly consistent.

For an individual effort to turn a game, you actually need to be in it. McVeigh was doing all he could to keep us in it. How you could criticise McVeigh to the point of suggesting he be put into the forward pocket to "earn his place" in the midfield again is beyond comprehension. Sure, he's not a superstar. He sometimes struggles with a tag. He's still a gun overall and a very, very important piece in our midfield.
