I have this feeling that sheeds/GWS will try and throw some money his way. The variables are there for a great story and sheeds the old coot loves romanticism in footy.

Great game yesterday against quality opposition as well. Give him that.
Still rekon hes a Gumby though, offers very little around the ground apart from his tapwork.
At least Mummys back next week.
You didn't see his fine mark on the wing and accurate kick that followed? Not to mention other stuff.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Were you seeing something none of the rest of us were?
I was a bit worried he [Kirky] was going to slap someone and with the way the umpires were going...

        Thought Pyke was great.

GS14, I haven't seen the replay yet so not sure what was highlighted on TV, but Kirky and Barlow were at each other yesterday and I can't remember anybody getting under Kirkys skin like Barlow appeared to yesterday.

It appears by your comments that the TV never picked up the push and shove between the two as they came off at one stage late in the game. Things got real heated with the ball (and the nearest player) 100 metres away. It was MOST unlike Kirkys normal demeanour.

Barlow probably reminds him of his kids.

IIRC the TV commentators made some comment (but as it was Dunstall I had tuirned off), but as per usual, the director/cameraman was too slow to pick it up. This is the first I have really heard about it.

He tries hard but I don't think he will ever reach the standard of an AFL ruckman. That is my honest opinion.

How on earth could you tell? I don't think he will make it, but I don't think he won't either. It's completely unchartered territory, but at the rate he's improving, he's certainly right on track.

So you can tell how quickly and to what extent he'll learn the game from watching him now, can you?

I thought Pyke and LRT did very well against 2 of the best in the game . { Sandilands and Pavlich}. Lrt.s game very good with 2 great saves

Im with you Primmy. I thought he did really well today, and he can only improve the more games he gets. As much as I have had my doubts I must also say I thought Henry Playfair did pretty well today.TE=Primmy;487404]One handed mark going backwards under pressure.

Thanks to all the rest of you, rising to the challenge - whoohoo!!! He's a goodn[/QUOTE]

his progression in the last 18months would have most people think otherwise...

Are you talking about Swans supporters down south? Every Melbourne-based Swans supporter I know has been a big fan of LRT for years, particularly given that he had not come from a traditional AFL upbringing. They all think the Pyke story is great too, although opinions vary as to whether he should be currently in the side.

I think that given Seaby will be out for some time, it's a good opportunity to give Pyke an extended run in the ones and just see how far he can progress.

I'm from Melbourne. I love LRT. And the big canadian continues to impress me. Don't tar everyone with the same brush. That comment about people from "down south" not wanting people from non AFL backgrounds to succeed is an absolute wank. And the fact that this is due to jealousy ? Give me a break.
