Yes, I was joking - or taking the piss if you will (almost literally).

I was actually hoping that you were going to come back with a list of what you considered to be on the extreme (or too feral) list for our supporters to live up to.

My mates used to just laugh sitting next to me when I would explode with a tirade of vocal support at games (particularly when we were losing). I am not as vocal as I used to be at the football - I once had a child sitting a few rows in front of me start crying after I let fly - nothing obscene - just loud really. I felt a bit bad after that (although his team did win the game / premiership).

Sorry mate... It's been a long day and I should have seen that.

I get a serious case of the white line fever or in this case Brewongle Stair fever when I go to games. My nephew who I now take to games thinks I'm hilarious and loves to embarass me when I take him home. One day he said to his mother that "yep, the yellow maggots screwed us again today" He's 8. I looked sheepishly at his mother and said I have no idea where he'd pick up such things.

I can so relate to that.

My daughter tells the story of Monday at school after dragging a few friends along to the big Collingwood game a few years back. All her friends were telling those who didn't go what an awesome night they missed out on.

Yeah I'm with you there (Mind you, I do think a packed SCG during a tight game is probably the best atmosphere of any sport in this country).

As for Jolly, I couldn't care less what he says or does. He is disloyal Collingwood scum. His poor wife being all alone for the Swans 11 away matches for 24 to 48 hours, must have been hell for her, hopefully the family rally around her this weekend while he is away.

I wonder what sort of sympathy they got from the Roos family with their sob story? I imagine Tammy Roos being from the US and then moving from near Paul's family in Melbourne to Sydney with two (very young) boys at the time would have been slightly more difficult.

I have decided not to boo Jolly any more instead i will cheer him on because of how much better our team is since him wanting to be traded back to melbourne.... we got Mcglynn and Jetta with those picks and, also went after and, succesfully picked up a couple of great ruckmen who instantly filled Jolly's spot and proceeded to overflow with no signs of slowing down soon.

This to me is the point. We have not missed Jolly for 1 second this year. If Mumford isn't already better than Jolly he will be shortly, and will end up far better. Seaby was good before he did his ankle. Pyke is showing considerable promise. We are better off without Jolly. And I agree with whoever said on a recent post that Ball was our Premiership ruckman anyway, not Jolly. No Ball = No Premiership. No Jolly = No Difference. I couldn't give enough of a crap about him to bother booing.

Then I resigned myself to him leaving but was irritated that he had decided he was going to Collingwood or Collingwood - nothing about them as a club but it limited the Swans' chance to get fair trade value for him. On reflection, however, there were only ever two clubs (other than us) in the market for an experience ruckman at the end of last year, and the Hawks had effectively put themselves out of the race by deciding Burgoyne was a more important priority. By the time it became official that he had requested a trade, it is fairly safe to assume that Jolly, his manager, and the Swans knew that the Pies were the only realistic suitor. And ultimately we probably did receive fair trade value for Jolly once the Pies stopped squealing about throwing in something extra with their first round pick.

That the club was able to secure McGlynn with that extra bit, turn the first round pick into a player who adds something genuinely different to the squad and is already able to make some senior level contribution, and then trumped all that by getting Mumford as well, are all bonuses. For a trade to improve the squad both in the immediate term and in the long term is quite a rare occurence so I am now able to be genuinely grateful to Jolly that he chose to leave. At least he had the good grace to do it after putting in his best ever season for us and while under contract.

His best half-season in my view. His first half of 2009 was brilliant. His second half was basically mediocre.
