    Another view:

Roos: "I think we're a reasonably quick team, but when you're not getting the ball and you're not using it and you're turning it over, it can look that way," he said. "We've played well this year in Adelaide twice and you couldn't get a faster deck than Etihad or a quicker team than Carlton. That wasn't the issue. The issue was if you can't win the ball and you can't use it when you do and you can't get it off the opposition when they win it, obviously, that's three pretty important parts of a footy game."

I just turned off the TV and tried to forget about footy. Interesting to read Hanners' take on it:

Dan's Diary - all guns blazing - Official AFL Website of the Sydney Swans Football Club

"There was a pretty bad feeling in the rooms after the game, on the bus and at the airport. Everyone was bitterly disappointed. Not much was said, everyone was lost for words. You couldn?t really speak, no-one was sure what to say, whether it was to the mate next to you, or to a coach or even to my family after the game."

I was glad to read that - I am badly in need of a group hug, but this is a start. That crap game mattered as much to the boys as it did to us.

          Well, mattered to Hanners anyway.
Maybe that was because he was one of the few that actually put in.

Thoughtful piece by Hanno. I'm glad they're stunned but you'd think their pathetic last quarter against Richmond was warning enough about the dangers of not contesting the footy.

Just this once I will mark it down to 'freak event' and do the Gillard forward thing.

Primmy, at least you weren't at the game, watching your team get massacred and having 3000 sea gulls carrying out strategic bombing exercises overhead. Now that was crap on and off the field!

We got into the red wine.....and groaned a lot....and threw stuff. Poor you, I know you were looking forward to this game....me too..... Still we didn't lose as badly as against St Kilda in around 1997 when I learned the true meaning of "staying to the bitter end". I never forgave Spida for walking backwards and spinning the ball on its axis, taunting the blokes before kicking yet another goal. That I think was a 100 pointer loss.

                  Just call me Pollyanna.

                    One word - PATHETIC.

Both the Swans and the umpiring

I taped the game while I was at work and was all set for a grat night watching the Swans kill the Demons.
I was so disgusted with that performance I turned off the tape five minutes into the 3rd Qtr. If the Swans play that badly next week they'll get smashed by 100 points plus.
And the umpiring was an absolute joke. I can't believe umps could be that biased.

I was at that game and remember Spida doing that. However as E.J Whitten said :"Winners are grinners and losers can please themselves". The only compensation was that it was Melbourne and the living legend Jim Stynes. If in someway it helped his recovery then I would be happy for the Swans to lose to the Demons for the next five years. Jimmy is a remarkable man and truly a ROLE MODEL for every kid.
