I have to admit I am torn on the selection, there is a part of me that is very angry that Roos hasn't made 2 or 3 changes to send a message, but on the other hand, a backs to the wall "got to save my career" type of attitude could be our only hope this week. Never know with Footy, Port last week had no chance in the Showdown but they played hard and got a bit luck with the Crows accuracy, if these 22 go in with every ounce of toughness they can throw at them, who knows. Ah, I live in hope.

As for the selection, I'm not really suprised. The boys know they have to turn up and give a good account. I just want them to go out, have a real dig and put in a big effort. Do that and you never know what might happen- as Damien said look at Port last week."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

Small forward line has to be the go, Goodes is too valuable in the middle and should spend most of his time there. No point having him up forward if nobody can get the ball up there. Shaw looked good forward and I'd put him back there as i don't think he has an impact in defense. Moore and McGlynn are the other two obvious ones but I'd like to see Jetta up there, despite his yips, the cats can be exposed by speedy small forwards ( or at least they have been on one occasion this year, Carlton). Jack's goal smarts are good and I'd have him resting up there if he's not on Ablett. White has to play his arse off. That doesn't mean he has to kick a bag, i dont care if he doesn't kick a single goal, but he must present hard to every contest and either mark or create oppurtunities for the smalls. A bit of defensive pressure would be nice too. Teddy could be handy in the lead up role he performed a couple of weeks ago, but i wouldn't bank on it. All in all I'm not going in with any confidence whatsoever. I'd like to think a miracle could happen, but were kidding ourselves if we think we have a realistic chance of even getting within 5 goals of this geelong side ( even with thier outs). If i am proven wrong I'll happily eat humble pie, but i can't see it happening. Call me a pessimist but last week was one of the most disgraceful displays I've ever seen and no team that can be that bad could be good enough to beat a powerhouse like Geelong a week later.Comment

It's nice to have a stable line up this late in the season, a sign you're doing well!I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his timeComment

Maybe Roos was disappointed with coming so close to gaining another record before his tenure ran out, he feels that this is the team to get him the record this week.
I'm all for being optimistic, but the first 10 minutes of this game will make or break the Swans. If the Cats can kick 2-3 unanswered goals, it's time to break out the methylated spirits and find a park bench somewhere. The eternal connundrum "what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object" was finally solved when David Hasselhoff punched himself in the face.Comment

had the reserves played last week and TDL, Vez, Reid etc dominated there would be a case to argue but as they had a week off and there isnt anyone coming back from injury it is hard to pick someone to come in.
My only change would be reid in because our backline is too small but as the pod isnt playing we can get by with only 2 tall defenders.Comment

If we lose in the same way again this weekend (no heart), I am not sure it is going to matter 'who and why'. Sometimes the next in line just has to come in and shake things up. Thecurrent 22 should consider themselves very lucky that our depth seems so weak that a 73 point thrashing equals no changes.Comment
