I spoke to Bird on Saturday. He said he's ready to play - and so are LRT and Smith. I asked if he thought they'd be brought back into the seniors straight away and he wouldn't comment.Comment

Yeah just noticed that, north getting toweled up yesterday and adelaide losing has helped. I rekon 1 more win could be enough to sneak in as well as results to continue to fall our way, we have effectively a 2 game break on north with the %. As someone else said, melbourne could be the threat, although they still have the hawks and port in adelaide so that is tough for them.Comment

But will be still be in the top 8 after round 22?
Hawthorn 9.5 wins: Syd, Melb, Freo, Coll.
Carlton 9 wins: Ess, Rich, Geel, Freo.
Sydney 9 wins: Haw, Freo, WB, Bris.
North 8 wins: Freo, ST, WC, Melb.
Melb 7.5 wins: Rich, Haw, Port, NM.
If we lose to Hawthorn, our tough fixture may mean that we only win one more game, against Brisbane in round 22 for 10 wins.
Melbourne have a much easier fixture with four winnable games. If they win three of them, they will end with 10.5 wins.
If Carlton win one more game, they are likely to see finals action at our expense if they maintain their small percentage lead over us. However, just as we've been belted by Melbourne and Geelong in the past fortnight, Carlton too have been belted, so there is a chance they could continue this form and drop below us on percentage.
A final note - of the six contenders for the last three spots in the finals, five of them (Hawthorn, Carlton, Sydney, North and Adelaide) all lost on the weekend. Last weekend the same six sides had four losses and a draw."Unbelievable!" -- Nick Davis leaves his mark on the 2005 semi finalComment

I have no interest in us stumbling into the finals only to be thumped at Subi in week 1.
If we're going to stumble in - which is probably likely at this stage - we should do so with some fresh ideas (risk taking) and fresh faces. I don't see what we have to lose by getting games into the likes of TDL, LJ, Vesz and maybe even Currie. Maybe not all of them at once, but they can't do any worse than the current mob and just may provide some spark to get excited about the rest of the season."As everyone knows our style of football is defensive and unattractive, and as such I have completely forgotten how to mark or kick over the years" - Brett Kirk

I was only going by what Roos said a the press conference. However today's DT report says both Smith and LRT are a chance. It also says McGlynn might come under scrutiny for his 'strike' on Ablett's face, but I think the impact is so minimal they will throw it out.Comment

Not looking forward to losing again.
Oh well .. at least it'll be a HUGE surprise if we win.
Is anyone else going to the 14/20/25 year membership function before the game??Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.Comment

How good will it be to have LRT back? So many potential Swans' goals were touched on the line by the Cats and we needed LRT doing the same at the other end of the ground.Comment
