I like Jesse and I'd like him to do well. I thought he looked promising in his few games at the end of 2009, after Barry Hall left us.

He's struggled this year, maybe because of the general uncertainty in the forward structure, maybe because of confidence issues. I'm not sure whether singling him out for public criticism is the best way to deal with the latter problem, but I guess the coaches know player psychology best

Anyway, I hope he comes good next year; we really need an imposing and skilled forward target.

A few places in this thread there are comments about when Bradshaw comes back. I can't wait, but with regard to who plays where for our forward line it may be better to retain Jesse as our main man up forward and use Bradshaw in a support role rather than vice versa. Certainly at the moment his form doesn't warrant this and it would be a waste of Bradshaw's talent, but it would have Jesse playing in the role/position we want him for in the future. It would take some pressure off and it would only take the occasional use of Bradshaw to keep any defender accountable. Having said this it is a random thought and I have no problem with experimenting by using him down back, but as I have said in earlier posts I hope he can become the forward we want him to.

Better effort from Jesse. Still dropped way too many marks but a good contribution today.

Thought he had a much better game today.
That little deft touch for Moore's goal was outstanding team play.

He appeared to play in front more and move around and give them a target. Much better game. He appears to have followed instructions.

he still didnt get a lot of the ball but i thought it was a much improved effort. In the first half especially, they were kicking it fast and long to him, he was creating a contest and bringing the ball to ground. Resulting in opportunities for other players.

I think the coaching staff will be happier with his game even though his output in terms of kicks, goals etc was the same.

I hope he continues to play as he did today.. Just get in there and crash through the pack.. Bring the ball to ground if he cant mark it.. Very pleased with his work today..

Yep..even when he didn't get it from the crashing of the packs he created doubt(maybe even fear) in the defenders. Created good opportunities for Moore and Goodes and Jetta. Much improved

I have reconsidered my position. While the basics still remain (White can't really mark, could well be much better as a defender), we are clearly a much better side when we've got a big body crashing the packs, and boy did he do that today. Goodes is too good a player to sacrifice to that role, and we don't have anybody else. So, White stays up forward. However, I think it would be a good move over the offseason and preseason for Johnston and Reid to focus on bulking up and perhaps filling that role, while White does some one-on-one with a defensive coach with a view to a defensive spot, or at least swing-man, especially if C.Bolts retires as the rumours suggest.

Whispers that C.Bolts will take it easy the rest of '10.....surgery was better than expected, and will saddle up again next year with a healthy body.

Good game today by White, possibly his best this year.
