Very hard to pick the best players tonight - and this time that's a good sign.

Great to see the young'uns continue to gain confidence. TDL's hands were nothing short of magnificent today. What a different player he looks to the nervous wreck that debuted just 5 games ago. And Lewis' confidence is definitely on the rise now that he's contributing on the goal kicking list. He is really starting to learn when and how to use his pace. The build up to that comically awful behind to Jack was magnificent play between him and Goodes.

Meredith looked composed and got far more involved than his previous two outings. Rohan didn't have the best of nights (wrong boots? he seemed to slip a lot) but got better as proceedings wore on.

Fingers crossed that Mummy's not too badly hurt. We really can't afford to lose him at this stage of the season. But kudos to Pyke who was up to the challenge of a far greater workload than normal in the middle. Can't believe how quickly Pyke has picked up the art of contested marks. He has a really solid set of hands on him.

Eade's a sook. Ground shift my arse. He needs someone to blame for his team being woeful instead of just agreeing with his former player that he should have rested/retired Johnson and that the team is playing bad football.

Don't know exactly, but I saw him come down heavily in the 1st - seemed to land with almost his whole body horizontal. Was off for quite a while, looked touch and go, but they strapped him up and he hobbled back. Nothing major, hopefully.

It was great at the SCG tonight. Some weird moments - that business with Tadhg and Barry, which eventually came back for Barry's goal? And Jude's hilarious 90-degree bounce through. TDL, Jetta, Rohan were all terrific. And the emotions were under control - it's hard to be sad when you see Kirky's huge smile, his lap went for ever and was enjoyed greatly by everyone.

          Rodney Eade Blames Surface

Rocket's blaming the surface for Cooney's injury.

"Last week (against Geelong) was very poor. Tonight there was some extenuating circumstances. There are some areas we need to address. We need our leaders who have played more than 100 games to really stand up."
          Ha.
Needs more than his 100 gamers to really stand up.

          Best.
          Win.
          Ever.

What a fantastic performance- so peeved that I couldn't make the trip up the highway for it but I will be there come finals time, whether its in Sydney or anywhere else. I thought when it started as a shootout it would be a long night for us, but we closed it down from there and generally dominated the rest of the match.

So many great performances tonight, the boys really stood up to give Kirky and Roos the send off from the SCG they deserved. must make specialy mention of Dennis-Lane, who was fantastic for us tonight. He' s going to be a superb player for us, and will be an important factor in the forward line for a long time into the future.

Bring on the Lions next week! Been some great footy the last 3 weeks, and we have a nice run of form at the moment to take towards the finals. What is clear is that even though there has been some poor performances at times this year, we have made big steps forward, and we are certainly on the right track to challenging for another flag very soon!

Really not much more to add from a match perspective. I would just like to say and I'm sure everyone will echo it, it was one of the best days to be at football (and so soon after another memorable one in Hawthorn)!

Biggest crowd since 2005 V West Coke Criminal Budgies.

                  I think it was 36,500+.

                  Brilliant.

Now all we gotta do is win every game for the next five weeks.

Got a bit sentimental when I saw Willo as part of the coaching staff *sniffles*

But how good was that game? Freaking awesome. Both sides suffered injuries so it's not like one team only had them (we had Mummy and Tadhg, not to mention Hanners and Jetta being polaxed), but I think with Mummy's case he could have played through that strain but when we kicked away from them, it was pretty stupid to risk him, instead give Pyke the game time. Definitely his best game for the club.

And TDL's 4 goals - very impressed again with his workload up front.

Fantastic game, it was obvious that the boys where not going to let anything stop them from winning tonight
I loved the massive show of love and affection for Kirky at the end of the game, both from the team and the crowd, even the doggies supporters sitting in front of me (those that stayed that is) where screaming and yelling for Kirk, especially when he got his two goals

I haven't seen a replay or any highlights with commentary yet so could someone enlighten me on what was the free kick reversal that gave Baz his 2nd goal all about? On the scoreboard slo-mo, it looked like another Swan stepped over the mark as Kennelly was kicking it. If this was the infringement, I have to admit I've never seen that one paid before.

Was this the one Meredith gave away for shepherding off the ball or something?

There was a "shepherd" off the ball on the 50m line. Not sure who was involved but a Swan put down a Dog, the commentators said nothing in it, but the free kick was taken where the ball was.

They show the injury a couple of times in this clip, the surface looks fine to me. Dunstall and Lynch
There was not one comment made about the surface during the game. I am guessing someone on Rockets staff may have suggested the surface was to blame and he has gone with that.
