    Belief

    Belief.

One word that will make a huge difference between looking towards the "future" in a months time or looking back and saying wow what a year.

Believe it or not this IS our best chance to win a flag since 05/06. We're coming into the finals with 4 straight wins. The only other time we've done this is 05. We have finished 5th. with 4 recent wins against top 8 sides one being top 4. We have the most respected coach and player in the game retiring to spur us on if you ever needed more motivation than playing finals.

Midway through 05 we were thinking about the "Future"
After the WCE loss in the qualifying final we were thinking "we've blown it"
10 minutes into the last quarter of the geelong game, almost 4 goals down having kicked 3 all night we were saying "ah well this is good experience for the young lads"
3 quarter time in the prelim 7 points down against the saints, were you all "happy" to have made a prelim?
Last quarter of the grand final we were trailing, doubt creeping in again.

When you look back it's easy to think that we were always a chance that year. HOWEVER at the time just like now, so many didn't believe. There was so many moments that would have been easy to look towards next year and reason with yourself..."We're only going to lose jason ball we should still be up here for a few years." Thank @@@@ing god the players didn't think like that. They acted in the moment, they were hungry, they believed and they won.

I recall reading an article by Kennelly at the beginning of the year. simply he stated that this is NOT a rebuilding year. That we ARE a great team and the players just needed to start believing it.

Right now..as it stands we have a good opportunity to win another flag. WE WIN THE NEXT FOUR GAMES AND WE HAVE WON THE PREMIERSHIP, challenging but achievable. Crows did it in 98. 5 years has already been too long to wait.
I for one believe we can take it home this year. Do you?

What I was thinking at that particular time in the game can't be repeated on a family site but rest assured it was no where near "oh well"

..And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

      I'll sign up.

      I'm onboard.

You've gotta aim for the stars, if you don't quite get there you could still end up on top of the world.

Whilst the pessimistic approach may appear safer, if everyone had adopted that view, we would all still be living in caves.

          Me too Al.

I was livid thinking back to the week before when McInerney gave that totally ridiculous free and reversal against Leo, costing us the game. It appeared that decision and the long trip back from Perth had conspired to send us out in straight sets. I remember being totally despondent at 3/4 time, unlike ever before. How things turned around in the weeks after.

Count me in!!!! I don't even entertain the thought that we may not be good enough to beat certain teams.

That may be blind faith but if I don't have my football team to believe than who do !?? : )

S-P you've summed up my feelings from the 05 season perfectly and Marshall you brought tears to my eyes with your thoughts, but Nich, the final words belong to you:

Tigers contribution to this club over time has been nothing short of outstanding and he is dead right. Watch for him to have a huge impact on Sunday.

                  grand final?

can we do the impossible and win the grand final or at least make it. I think if we get up against Carlton and then beat most possibly the bulldogs, we would have to verse either geelong or saints. Lets hope the saints win and we can do a repeat of 2005.

                      Is it a lyric competition?

I believe the Swans can do anything.
Be it lose to the bottom ranked team or beat the top ranked team.

I'm in and we have unfinished business with Collingwood, Roosy has to beat them once and it might as well be the grand final!

Not mentioning that Kirky deserves a fine send off!

                        I believe!

The very best thing about being a Swans supporter is that we are never out of it. Kudos to the OP and kudos to King Kinnear.

What Dunstall said tonite, in 08 The Cats were the best team in the comp, but in the finals the Hawks were the best performing team.
It's all about the last four games of the season.
The Swans are performing pretty good ATM.
Placed in similar circumstances to The Saints and Pies last weekend, I dont think The Swans would have shown AS MUCH disrepect for the contest. Teams are much better in themselves if they keep winning.
To win the flag Sydney are paying $21, to make the final $13. Dogs n Hawks much shorter.

                            I'm on board, definitely.
