I'm kinda hoping we nab Richards Jr. It would add to our Xavier college brigade (Richards Sr, Hanners, Kennedy, AJ). He also led the tackle count for Vic Metro playing as a KPD. Good signs!
Also, stats are up for NSW/ACT's second match. Potter only 11 touches, but 6 clearances! So he still had an influence. Eric Moody just the 3 touches. Lynch had 14 of a HBF, looks like he's holding his own.Last edited by BSA5; 11 June 2011, 02:30 PM.Officially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!Comment

and another 6 clearances for Potter against SA. Lynch had 14 disposals while Moody and Gourlay hardly touched it. Wonder if Brodie Grundy is any relation to Reg?

First games of the 16' & 18's RAMS matches against Division 2 states in National Championships yesterday.
18's RAMS went down to Tassie with Jack Lynch and Blake Guthrie named in best.
Forward Jack Lynch played a consistent high intensity match with one goal among his 14 touches
Sydney Swans Academy player Lloyd Perris was influential in the victory as the leading possession-winner on the field gathering 22 touches (including 13 contested)

Must have been a very good 7 possessions by Guthrie?Comment

Potter looks to have gone all right by those stats. Considering he had two clangers as well those 5 kicks he had must have been magicComment

Yes, whilst the stats can be useful, the old Dream Team points can be rather misleading.
... firstly, I often wonder who is actually keeping the stats and just how accurate they are ... and then they are not awarding points for the 1%'ers that the coaches rate so highly ... your direct opponent could get it 40 times and kick 6 goals, whilst you have 25 disposals without hitting a target, on the way to amassing huge DT points and be "best" for your team, but effectively cost them the game!
For example, I'm told that Guthrie had the unusual, but impressive stat of 5 effective smothers on Saturday ... the effort worth 0 DT points!
Similarly, in the RAMS first game against Vic Metro, Hartley (Magpies scholarship) amassed a massive 16 DT points, with 2 handballs, no kicks, but was rated 2nd best by the NSW coaches, as he kept their power forward, Patton to 9 possessions and just 1 goal ... Patton has since kicked 6 v Qld and 4 v W.A., will likely finish top of the goal kicking and is touted as a top 3 draft pick ... the Collingwood recruiters were in raptures over Hartley's performance, but you wouldn't want him in your Dream Team!
... as they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but certainly its better to keep the coach happy, ahead of the statistician, only one of them picks the team!
btw Ugg, S.A.'s Grundy is no relation.Comment

Hard to judge as the Academy players have a massive leg up in preparation - surely at this level they're playing against raw talent. The eternal connundrum "what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object" was finally solved when David Hasselhoff punched himself in the face.Comment

Match Results
My eyes twitched a little this morning during my quick squizz at the SMH sports results section when I noticed that a B.Jack had kicked 7 on the weekend and earnt BOG. Having been stung before by the fact that there was a Brant Jack in addition to Brandon Jack, I had to pacify my excitement until I could verify at the Sydney AFL website. And it turns out that it is Brandon. A few other scholarship/academy players in that Penno lineup too (past and present)Comment

Slightly off-topic, I know, but more to get excited about from little bro.....

Just a quick question on Lynch, he was one of the better players for NSW/ACT and is mentioned in the Under 18 eye catchers with Kevin Sheehan here
What struck me as surprising was when Kevin mentioned he was 190cm tall, as I seem to recall he was a monster when we first signed him and was 190cm as a 15 year old. Has he not grown upwards at all since then or am I mistaken?
Also does anyone have any news on Mitchell? It was mentioned that he might start getting games for WA in the carnival around round 4-5 and it's round 4 this week. Was hoping to see him get a run.Comment

"Brandon has made the transition from junior football to senior football smoothly. He has played almost no under 18 club football and will basically miss that step in his development years, purely because he gives you no choice but to play him in seniors. His greatest natural attributes are his speed, agility and a raking left foot. "
