i remember Josh making the trip to Sth Africa with Perris and Jimmy Carroll but from memory jimmy carroll is with the GWS academy
Josh is a fairly raw player still in the Swans eyes ?
So I am guessing that Jimmy can go father son with the Swans if they picked him ? which is maybe this year 2014 ? or the draft just gone ??
also from memory Jimmy is a HBF and taller etc then dad ?

Could be Wayne's son. A few of Dennis' s cousins played reserves so not surprised if he is relatedYou don't ban those who supported your opponent, you make them wallow in their loserdom by covering your victory! You sit them in the front row. You give them a hat! Toby ZieglerComment

Dennis is Jim's uncle , so can't go father and son , Perris did not go to SA, my understanding 2014 is his draft year so appears to looking to improve his chances away from the academy, googled Claremont colts, last years WAFL premiers , 7 state players inc 2 AIS , 1 drafted and 1 rookie to West Coast, so you are in fairly elite company compared to NSW footyComment

Does anyone know if there has been, or if there is proposed to be, a change in the GWS/Swans Academy catchment boundaries in Sydney metro?
It did seem that GWS was heavily favoured in the drawing of the boundary and given their massive stockpiling of high draft pick players it would seem a generous slice of the NSW pie might be putting just too much cream on top within a very few years.
I thought I read somewhere a boundary review was happening and reading about the players visits to junior clubs on Tuesday night just made me wonder again about those boundaries.Comment

An article on the AFL website a couple of daze ago about this years F-S and Academy bidding. Good to see GWS is getting another boost as they obviously need it! The bit relevant to us is below -
"The zoned academy players fall under the same (bidding) system, and there is likely to be a group in consideration.
At this stage, midfielder Isaac Heeney appears the best of the lot. Quick, strong and with an ability to accumulate possessions, Heeney is tied to the Sydney Swans and will spend a majority of the season with their NEAFL side.
The Brisbane Lions have two of their local academy boys in the wider AIS-AFL Academy side, Liam Dawson and Matt Hammelmann. Dawson, a tight defender, was named in the under-18 All Australian team last year as one of only two bottom-aged players.
The Suns have one of the year's better midfielders, classy Lachie Weller, within their academy, but he has not lived in Queensland long enough to qualify as a zoned pick.
Greater Western Sydney has two academy prospects in the AIS-AFL Academy, widely regarded as the best group of teenagers in the country. Liam Griffiths and Nick Coughlan have trained with the Giants' senior squad, with Griffiths, a light-bodied midfielder with terrific endurance, being mentored by Tom Scully.
A space to watch for the Giants, however, is what they do with their list. Under AFL rules they need to continue to trim their numbers in the next few seasons, but will likely hold three picks inside the first 25 come November's draft after activating a compensation pick at the end of the first round. Again it's an enviable position for list manager Stephen Silvagni and company"Comment

There are a few small glimpses of Heeney to be seen on the reserves highlights reel from the weekend, in case anyone is curious. He's a blond kid wearing number 50. You can see him provide the kick to another top up player for the first goal of the reel, and then he kicks a couple himself, both roving type goals.Comment

Is that article implying Heeney is the best of all of them or just the best of the players available to Sydney?Comment
