    Round 16 v Carlton, ES.

BEST: Goodes, Grundy, Jack, Shaw, Mumford, Hannebery, Malceski, McVeigh

Rhyce Shaw was the surprise packet in this game, putting his speed to good use as a leading forward. Sydney kicked 6 goals to 1, and that 1 was from a kick into the man on the mark, whcih handed Judd a simple goal. The Swans through an invigorated Goodes blitzed the Blues to lead by more than 7 goals at half time. The blues outscored the swans in the final half, but the damage was already done.
LRT was a late withdrawal, and Smith did his hammy.

Shaw 3 goals, and a swag with 2.

We must be showing a zigzag of personal favouritsm here. Kizza is barely in the Mix!! Does that mean the coaches know more than us sidewalk superintendants? Perish the thought.

Patience, Primmy - his time is near.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

8 matches remaining, max 40 votes to gain and trailing the leader by 18. He'll need to outshine Eski, Goodes and Mumford each by three votes a round to win from here.

                    Round 17 v Melbourne, MCG.

BEST: Goodes, McGlynn, Hanneberry, White, Malceski, Jack, Kennedy

                    An unexpected flogging.
If the fans were flabbergasted, I bet the players weren't feeling too much better.
The swans had no answer to the young rampaging Demons ably led by Green Up forward.
Not only did the Dees mark everything in site, they kicked for goal with great accuracy.
The swans were run ragged, and wer left in the Melbourne players wake as any foraward foray was sent back with avengance. A game we all would like to forget.

                    Goodes kicked 4, White 3.
                    Dees by 73.

                    Round 18 v Geelong, ANZ.

BEST: Goodes, Mattner, Jack, Mumford, Richards, Kennelly

After last week the swans came out fired up. However, no one would count on the accuracy of the Cats. 16 shots (swans) to 11 at half time, but the cats led comfortably. After half time the Cats put on a show led by the enigmatic Johnson, and our chief destroyer Ablett, kicking 8 goals to 1, to put the game beyond doubt. The swans were much more committed, but could not over come the force that is the Cats. The season now in the balance.

                    Goodes 3 goals, Jude 2.

It has been said lots that the coaching staff are really hard on Goodes. We just see a bloke playing well..we don't know what his brief is so hence the big disparity between the coaches' votes and the experts'.

That, but also he is very noticeable on the ground. So when he has a good game it may be more obvious than when others have good games. It is consistent with his polling record in the Brownlow.

I don't think I gave him too many votes (Scott will probably look at his list and see I did vote a for him a lot and I have just forgotten), especially at this time of the year.
And looking at the number of voters and the spread over players those votes cover it wouldn't take too many 1's to get him the points each round.
                                Annie's 3 plus another few 3's = 15 points
                                a number of 2's, say 7 = 14 points
                                and 15 x 1's = 15
Thats' 44 points out of a total 222, almost 20% of the points. Leaving 80% to be spread across 13 players.
