I think the outrage was just disappointment we didn't use our rookie picks. From memory Panos and Hooper were the ones people expressed a desire to try and both went to the Dogs. Hooper has been upgraded and Panos given another year.

I still smarting from the 2009 Burgan Phantom Draft that had us taking Barlow at pick 55! if only..........

      afl.com.au mock draft

How they should fall - AFL.com.au

      21 - Ben Jacobs (half-back/utility)
      40 - Pat Karnezis (tallish half-forward)
      57 - Zac Fitzgerald (KPP)
73 - Ben Casley (tall utility)

Personally, i think we will draft a midfielder or two

Yeah, can't see this prediction happening, at least I hope not. All 4 are medium to tall forwards, with no real pace, who can play back.
I hope we go for atleast one x factor type, like Isiah Stephens. (predicted to go to Essendon at 80)

            alright my final predictions

21 - Jamie Cripps - he is a very sharp flanker or midfielder........hard as a nut
40 - Josh Walker (I almost wonder whether we may take him earlier mainly due to its hard to find a guy like him........we need a very very mobile 195cm player with confidence such as Josh)
57 - Brad Harvey (only if we get a tall earlier ie either Josh Walker, Zac Fitzgerald or Pat Karnezis)
            73 - Alex Browne

From everything I've read it looks like there will now be few surprises inside the top 20 and our pickings will be a little slender at 21 than they may have been a week ago.

I do like our thinking Auntie G, Jamie Cripps looks a good player with upside and I'd like Walker to still be there at pick 40 but I doubt he will be.

After that it really is taking a leap of faith that players can improve a lot from their current peer standing. There are a number that will hopefully be around at pick 57 who could step up. I'd like to grab Otten Jnr from under the Adelaide Cows nose!

To me the order of preference at No.21 is:

                Reece Conca
                Billie Smedts
                Jamie Cripps / Ben Jacobs
                Jed Lamb

Conca seems an interesting one where he's rated by some as top 10, others say 20+. Can't see Freo overlooking him at No.20 though.

Pat Karnezis looks a reasonable option at No.40, unless someone else really slips a long way.

I'd be surprised if we overlooked Max Otten if he was there at No.57

I would actually like to see darling slide down to us - i think he would do really well in a non footy city, he has so much upside, for pick 40 would really like to get Ryan Lester, and pick 57 Brad Harvey has a huge upside, and for our final pick someone like Anthony Kyanga. But whoever we get for pick 21 and 40 will both be very good players.

Emma Quayle doesn't have Darling going in the top 25 picks!
Has predicted Billie Smedts coming to the swans

Our last first pick was also a ~190cm utility from the Geelong Falcons. Let's hope that is a good omen

Smedts looks very sharp also and does it with ease in the backline

given he is the same height as a Mattner, Kennelly, C Bolton but plays more like a flanker off the HB line he maybe in demand........as those three will be moving on next year or two is my guess

this draft is wide open as a dunny door blowing in a southerly gale !

last year Jetta and Rohan where easy guesses by us all
