    A pick that late in the draft is a low percentage chance of success, and I say that after looking at the statistics. If the coaching staff felt we needed more back up for KP backs then that's why they have gone that way although the length of time taken to make the selection means it was debated amongst the group.

    I for one hope that the Sydney change can work for Spangher, he was a reasonably high draft pick at 34 in the 2005 draft so looked to have ability at draft time. His first two years at the Weagles were ruined by injury so hopefully he can get fully fit this year and pose us selection headaches.

    What we do in the rookie draft will be interesting as we have seven vacancies that we could fill. GWS have the first eight picks so our picks are 21, 38, 55. Still quite a number of rated juniors that weren't taken in the ND but they should all be gone by our first pick. Maybe we may pre list some NSW talent?

      No NSW rookies around,707. GWS can pre-list 16 NSW kids prior to the rookie draft. Our only hope is upgrading some scholarship kids which probably would have happened by now if that was happening.

      Some ripper forwards available for the rookie though both tall and small.

                Pick 73 for Spangher??? Yes please. What else are you going to get for pick 73? I'd take nearly any player that's played a game of AFL football ahead of what you can get in the draft at pic 73.

                Let's face it, you have 3 levels at the draft;

                1 - 10 - Almost a guaranteed player of some description. Usually a better than average one.
                11 - 25 - A kid that will most likely play some AFL.
                25 - 50 - Speculative pick. A kid that has the potential to play at the AFL level.
                50 + You're just hoping the kid will help you win a few reserves games before being delisted.....

                Besides, the guy is a KPP in the making. Without exception, KPP's always take a few years to develop.

                        Ulverstone is where I live Primmy...and this boy is friends with some of the kids I taught. He didn't go to Ulverstone High but instead went to St. Brendans in Devonport(I think) or Marist in Burnie. I don't know why he hasn't been picked up as he was playing seniors for Devonport in the Statewide league and would get in the best players. Other kids from his AIS intake have been taken by Gold Coast. Who knows ..maybe a big fish in a small pond
