I believe there is another thread (from a few years ago now) that discusses this and consensus got us to Shaw (of tree fame) being the culprit (from memory) ... I'm looking for that thread ... will post a link when I find it unless someone beats me to it ...

Edit: Nope, looks like 't was Rex ... See also here

        Goosebumps.

Cam Mooney crying. I can play that bit over and over and over and over and over ...
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

The sight of Geelong flogging the Swans everytime they've played since and Mooney winning another two premierships, is more significant for me.

How can that possibly be more significant to a Sydney supporter than our own miracle effort?

Well to use your term, "our own miracle effort" compared to a team that featured and won two of three consecutive Grand Finals. Sydney's win was a miracle that night.

It is more significant to me BUT I didn't say that it had more meaning to me. I'm hoping we can finally beat Geelong and Collingwood next year. Then that would become more significant.

But the Swans team that does that is a different team in a different era. Have a look at the other Premiership clubs from that time - Brisbane, Port Eagles - and maybe Geelong next year. I know which one I'd prefer to follow. Collingwood finally got there with a different team to its GF teams of 2002/03. The Saints probably won't. The Bulldogs are perpetual second tier.

I just revel in 2005 and the fact that unlike every other team for the past eight years (excluding one injury wracked one) we had always been competitive.

Those with the official DVD five pack can enjoy the 2005 GF with choice of commentary....Rex is just disgracefully one-sided (two the Swans)....in the final ball up near the far wing that ends with Kerr getting the ball and an eventual eagles miss....Rex is going...."Blow the Siren. Just blow the Siren...I can't take this anymore." On the 2MMM one it's quite hilarious. It's so biased it sounds like some drunk university students. Towards the end Matty Nicks keeps going. "Please somebody hatch the ball....just hatch it for God's sake!" Gold :-)

I love watching it with the triple M commentary on. Always makes me feel like I'm watching the game with a few blokes at the pub!
