Bulldog Moore directing traffic in 2011 ?

Hilarious! I really miss some of these extinct creatures. Who can forget Rene Kink,Ditterich,Wesley Lofts etc etc . It was an afternoon's entertainment just watching them play. Bulldog is dam unlucky to have been born too late. He could have been the Tom Haffey of AFL coaches!

In days gone bye it was OK to have a Brontosaurus at FF or FB and an Allosaurus at CHF or CHB, A T-Rex in the ruck a couple of stegasauruses in the BP and some speedy little Triceratops in the Midfield. Unfortunately the game has changed and now every player is a speedy Velociraptor of varying size. Poor little Anklyosaurus (Jared Moore) just cant keep up any more. Its time for him to go the way of all dinosaurs.

The guy can play. He may not be the quickest going around but he is a lot quicker between the ears than most of the 'athletes' playing the game. I for one have always been a fan of his and I think he gives us a bit of balance up forward. He stays in my opinion.

Some folks fill differing functions - I get the feeling he fulfills what's expected of him. Not everyone needs to dazzle; some just need to get stuff done behind the main drama. To really, really mix metaphors poorly.

He certainly is often in the right spot to" get stuff done behind the main drama" as the main drama is rapidly moving upfield courtesy of his opponent. No doubt he regroups the forwards in these all too frequent lulls. On the +side his foot pass to Bradshaw was one of my 2010 highlights otherwise I agree he is too slow,can't defend well enough to contain his opponent, and misses gettable shots (at a great cost to the team) all too often. He would be a great playing coach in country football and a star in reserves but top level AFL has moved on from his type of play and his kind of physical attributes. Not in my 22!

So if Moore plays who misses out? TDL, Meredith, Reid, Rohan, Jetta, LJ ect. With most coaches talking about rotating Mids through the forward line there is only so much room. I suppose his job could be to organise the resting Mids to keep away from the 2 or 3 Specialist forwards we still have room for.
I'm not sure there is room for an on field organiser, surely we have coaches for that.

Seems to me that if Bulldog is strong in orginizing and marshalling the fwd line troops but lacks leg speed, he should work on his leg speed? Call me stupid but.... wouldnt that fix the problem?

You can take your Bulldog out everynight to the racing track and work on leg speed.My greyhound will still beat you.! So no! that will not fix the problem because he is as fast as he is ever going to be. I felt his only chance was to be a Leigh Mathews type of hard at the ball enforcer with a marvellous accurate kick. Like a Jude Bolton that can read the play.It didn't happen!

Hardly, you want the player to get the message in the quarter it is given to the runner, surely.

Terry Wallace got one thing right when asked why he didn't draft Moore...."too slow".

I would expand a bit...too slow and too fat. And every man and his dog bagged Dean Rioli for playing overweight. Seems to have the same physic.

I watched him at training yesterday.
If he is not to take part in this year's festivities, no-one has told him or the forward line he was marshalling yesterday.
He is very vocal, always where the football is,brings people into the play...as some said, the forward line general. He has the knack of knowing where players around him are at all times, and being able to find them..a rare skill nowadays.
Lack of foot speed didn't hurt Diesel, not that Bulldog is a Williams, but he has similar football smarts.
He may be the best case of a footballer who has to keep straining to be a modern athletic player, as distinct from the fabulous athletes who try to become footballers.
In my best 22 every week. Oh, and by the way, a walk up to coach down the track!

Ditto. Ditto. Ditto. Seems to be the latest whipping boy. He like McVeigh did, will prove the anti Moore posters wrong and end up with glowing praises.

The only things Moore has going for him are a heap of natural ability, more footy smarts than most players in the AFL and pinpoint disposal. I say get rid of him.
