Epitomised what the Bloods stood for. While playing his heart out for the club he reached an AA standard of personal excellence but Craig was not about individual glory. A club man through and through and a much missed loss to us all. One of the truly great Swans defenders of all time!

That's always the big problem with foot injuries, they tend to lead to other injuries thru compensating for the sore foot. It would be an uneducated guess that B2's tendon was weakened somewhat by his struggle with his archilles.

Wade Chapman broke a foot v the Bulldogs in '97? and hobbled his way thru the '98 pre-season before snapping his archilles during a routine run thru Centennial Park.

LRT has had nothing but hamstring and gluteal problems since returning from his broken foot injury. Hopefully Birdy has more luck, but it 's not looking promising for the poor bugger.

A cruel and sad end to a great career. 199 is the worst number so how about being substitute in the last round if it's a dead rubber? :-)

One of our very best who did some fantastic jobs on the oppositions best and will always be remembered by us fans as an immortal of the 2005 premiership.

Good luck with the rehab and best wishes for the future.

It was a year ago that I heard they were trying to get him right enough to play his 200th game so he could then retire. But with typical Bolts determination he worked and worked to get right and at the Club Champion dinner was saying how much he was looking forward to this year. Then this happens. It's so sad.

But he does leave as a true warrior of the club and a Premiership player. And one of the few players that his ex coach (Leigh Matthews no less) admitted how wrong he was to let him go and how much he wished he played for him still.

He will always be part of that team of 2005 who did so much for all of us.

I've been expecting this for a while. Doesn't mean it isn't a sad day for the club and supporters.

Thanks Craig, job well done. Leave with your head held high - You have left nothing on or off the field undone as far as the club is concerned.
A true champion, savour the premiership you played a major role in. Good luck!

Foot injuries seem to have become far more prevelent in recent years. Egan from Geelong hurt his foot in the last round a few years back and then trained on it in an attempt to play finals. A bad mistake as he never played again and retired because of it. It has been explained to me by an orthopedic surgeon that the the issue is the lack of blood supply to the foot due to small veins and the smallness of the bones. If certain bones are broken and main veins damaged the lack of blood supply becomes a huge issue in recovery. Also small bones that need to be pinned pose real problems. He said most major foot injuries were in the past caused by severe car accidents where the foot was impacted on the pedals.

I can't help think that the flimsy nature of the boots these days offer little protection and support.

What a true champion he was. Go back to the 05 Prelim and have a look at the job he did on Riewoldt that night if you need reminding of how good he was.

Thanks for the memories CBolt. You will be missed. A true club legend.

Only 6 remain now from the 2005 premiership side
It's very hard to live in a studio apartment in San Jose with a man who's learning to play violin. That's what she told the police when she handed them the empty revolver.

A sad way for it to end.

Craig has been the typical "quiet achiever" - no nonsense, did his job week-in, week-out, no dramas. He thoroughly deserved his reward in 2005 and leaves very big shoes to fill.

                              Best wishes for life post-football.
