Gary will have a laugh at that....don't know about his lovely mum though. Anyway it was an accident, he didn't mean it, and he is very sorry...he got mixed up with a bad crowd

It was that notorious egg thrower Hanners that led him astray

We got some free kicks after that so money well spent.

Now if we can only get Mummy and Razor Ray to cross paths.

Maybe the Essendon supporters should listen to their coach. When quizzed about the umpiring Hird said that both sides may query some decisions but that's footy. Class act.

Sounds like EPSN3 are taking Channel 7's Sunday afternoon match feed. Cool that the US has ESPN3 btw. We just got ESPN2 (we also have 3 Fox Sports channels, Eurosport, Speed, 2 racing channels, Setanta and Fuel as well as a free-to-air sports channel so we do ok!)

I'm in the "Smith had pretty damn ordinary first half by his lofty standards" camp. Think I saw him beaten more one on one in that half than he saw happen in half a season last year.

We earned the win; guts did duty for skill, but I hope they do something about the skills.
We got a few of those frees when the umps finally took notice of Mummy being held in the ballups. And they were at least consistently inconsistent.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

first of all I am frustrated by our footy looking like we are not in control and being beaten at the break downs and ruck.............besides my reference in the backline thread.................re we are playing higher up the field like Collingwood last year which leaves our backs isloted when our midfield is not dominant this is a difficult adjustment for an experienced backline let alone our current backline.........but we need to persist as it works and it will work better and it is necessary against the Pies etc

I am not 100% sure why our passing has been off and basic mistakes made without pressure but we have the last two weeks BUT some how we adapted and found the opening and grabbed it with both hands and took a draw and win !!

At the game I watched closely and I saw some great leads into open space on the 50m area by Jude, Jack, Bevo, hannes etc and no one looked up when we were running down the sides and fumbled it before we could even centre the pass

.......I am disappointed that Goodes has to come back into the midfield for us to go up another level in that part of the field............we then started to see Jude and crew go up a notch in hitting the pack and winning the ball..........

                            BUT There are big positives:

                            I) we can carry Jetta and Rohan one more week if need be.........as we are winning.............and their development to be there and counted come the finals................lets persist I say.............it is frustrating but it it is high pressure footy and they will rise up !

II) For me we have so much up side in the forward line...............Sammy Reid will with out out doubt will be a night mare to match up on and not many teams will be able to go with White, Goodes and White when they are on they are on song and on the lead.

III) we are sticking to the new game plan of upfield high pressure footy and it is showing promise albeit a challenge right now due to basic turnovers and being stranded when this occurs

IV) we have some big names still to come back and that is huge !!! a player like Tag to come back and play direct when needed is not to be under estimated

                            V) Kick to kick on a Sunday is just too much fun with the kids.......................that was awesome yest and I nailed a banana from 40m out on the boundary and lovn it !!!............talk about never taking you eye off the sky.................there were Sherrin missiles coming left right and centre !!

Have watched a bit more of the replay.....thoughts: Jetta looks like he is playing anxious and without a great deal of confidence. They were all playing anxious. Macca was probably anxious, and Adam often gets het up, so someone out there needs to remind the boys that they can play and it is unlikely that Horse is going to do anything different to Roosy, whose mantra was "I am not going to pull you off the ground because of mistakes, keep going".

Actually its like they believed the Bombers publicity. Fortunately Jude's blood and guts determination hasn't deteriorated. And it looks like Benny is going to be his successor in this attribute. Bless them both. I believe that with this particular win that the Bloods ethos will remain in tact. They can believe in it now on another level.

This is going to be an interesting transition year isn't it.

Transition to Premiers? After years following the Swans I normally regard the first month as just a period to get through. The more points the better of course, but we always seem to start slow - as if we're surprised to find the competition has started and the play has gone up another notch. So six points is more than I'd hope for.

I agree that they were all playing nervous so they kicked a bit more stiffly and so many kicks and passes fell short. We have seen they have the talent but this year they need to hit their rythmn. Two intense opening games - hopefully we'll find a bit more space in WA and they can find their feet. I wonder if Jets will find his mojo playing at home this weekend?
