LOL Nich, I wish I could say it was some brilliant insight gained while watching the magoos (I don't think I even mentioned Nipper in my quickfire report) but it was just a bit of amateur psychoanalysis on my part.

Well he shouldn't be feeling as bad as they play such different positions although I do get your point. I think he would have been gunning for Everitt's spot this week and if Andrejs is in I think he's a tad lucky. In fact Jack's injury might have worked against him as the club would be hesistant to blood two players to join such a young team. (and maybe play Sumner in his 2nd game as well)

Poor Lewis though might struggle in the coming weeks to earn a spot if LRT manages to make it through another week in the reserves unscatched.

Good on Nipper - from the limited reserves games I saw last year, I liked his hardness and his willingness to get under a pack and extract the ball. With K Jack out I think he's a pretty good like-for-like replacement. I'm not expecting miracles but I think we will see someone who's willing to have a crack at the packs and put his body on the line.

His attack on the man and the ball is KJ like, but positionally he is nothing like KJ.

Dill and Parker get all the hard inside ball in the ressies. I'd be amazed if you see Nipper lining up in the centre bounces on the weekend.

I also hear that the Dogs will have a debutant of their own, the fantastically named Zephaniah Skinner. Could cause some problems for our defenders with his big leap.

Hearing Matthew Lloyd trying to pronounce his name will be interesting. Well actually probably very painful.

Skinner? What's so hard about that? You could do it Superintendent Chalmers style. SKIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII-NERRRRR!

Talking about mispronunciations, One Week At A Time on Monday had Schneider on as their special guest and they showed footage of KB calling his first goal. Called him Schnee-der.

Best of luck to Nipper, from what I've seen he's a great competitor..
On the other side of the coin, Everitt shows very little competitive drive, and his decision making and disposal from halfback has been ordinary.
It amazes me he keeps holding his place.
I'd love to see LJ have a chance, particually given what a great kick he is. A long accurate kick from defence is a great weapon against the forward press.
Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MT

I'd love one of the commentators to do that. Even if it was only once.

Dunno about Nipper for Nathan Gordon either. I'm going with "Commissioner". It sounds more imposing as well as having the obligatory pop-cultural reference. There's "Flash" too but it's been done.

Nice to see a debutant carrying on the proud tradition of #45 - Stafford, G.Dempster, McKenzie...Saggers...Rogers...

I think a few of us were thinking along those lines earlier on, but his family/friends were regulars in the Noble/Bradman (maybe still there now) and very vocal whenever he did anything remotely impressive. Nipper was there choice and his teammates have called him nothing else but Nipper from those days as well, so I guess he is one player who we didn't get to baptise with a clever (or not so clever) nic.
