Unless there are injuries I reckon there'll be no change. I suspect Moore will play and someone else will be sub. Jetta is a good sub option with his pace but if they wanted him to play that role they'd have done it already. Jetta will play from the start at least until Rohan returns IMO.Today's a draft of your epitaphComment

Reward for effort: Longmire - AFL.com.au
Listening to Horse today it sounds like he is doing his all to get Reidy to be our CHF for as many minutes as possible and Seabs, Pyke or Mummy to share the role of FF / Ruck etc and then have Everitt floating in the forward line with Goodes etc when needed.
He did say that Andrejs when he gets a lead will burn pretty much most backs who mark up on him and Everitt would have been better for some more direct and wiser midfield kicks passes today.
Im liking Horses thinking cause we cant rely on Goodes as our only target and Goodsey always looks better in the midfield and then floating through the forward line when needed.........."be tough, only when it gets tough"

if bradshaw ever finally says yep im right to play and the medicos clear him, does he walk straight back into the senior side and we roll the dice or does he need to play reserves
or is it just never going to happenTheres not much left to sayComment

At the end of last season they played Bradshaw for a few games in the reserves before he finally came back for the Doggies game. I imagine they would do the same again, if the opportunity arises.Comment

And who would do the roles that he's been doing well so far this season while he is sitting on the pine for the first three quarters? He has been used largely in defensive roles thus far, either in the backline or sometimes in midfield. We don't have many others with his pace, stature and endurance who could cover what he's been providing. It is all very well to want to play a sub capable of "having an impact" but you have to rule out the most important role players or it becomes a little pointless.
A Sub can be on anytime not just the last quarter. We can have an injury in the first 5 minutes and a Sub can play the whole game.It WILL happen.
Having said that it is detrimental to have a Sub that does not get enough game time and therefore the Sub role needs to be rotated rather than have one permanent Sub.
Shaw would be a great Sub in a tight game to come on in the last quarter.Obviously not every week though.Comment

No changes this week - Moore in the 21, Nipper or Jetta to sub.Comment

With LRT back,Reg would move to a flank which would strengthen or certainly maintain our backs. Smith,Kennelly and Mattner would get Shaw's role. All can play up the field.

Smith is already doing defensive jobs. Give him Shaw's and who is going to do Smith's? Kennelly is a pretty ordinary one-on-one defender. I certainly wouldn't want him to be trying to shut out Sherman - as Shaw did pretty well at the weekend. Mattner is one who's current role might disappear once LRT is back but I would still back Shaw to play better on smaller / medium sized forwards than Mattner. Mattner has been given these jobs in the past with mixed success, but you saw how he struggled with Gia in the final quarter on Saturday.
I actually think Mattner is a better bet as an sub than Shaw, but mostly on the basis that LRT's return will change how he is used in the team, not a reflection on how important his roles in defence for us have been so far this year.Comment

even when he was at the crows i thought mattner belonged on the wing. Teams try to drag him back and create a one on one contest. Not sure id make him the sub, i prefer the speedy burst players as sub. I thought moore was pretty average as far as subs go on the weekend, he seemed as puffed as everyone else.Theres not much left to sayComment

Mattner could/should move to a HFF/wing when LRT returns. His kicking isn't always spot on, but it's long and penetrating and could really open up our forwardline. Johnson can take Mattner's role (he seems quick and agile enough). No further switching required.Officially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!Comment

Why would you move our regular CHB to a flank?

Whats your view on how we have handled having 3 class ruckmen? Essendon with Hille,Ryder and Bellchambers all playing looked good.Even the West Coast is tall with Cox ,Lynch and Natanui. All have their stint at FF and are dangerously tall there! We regularly use just two. Maybe we are not exploiting our height advantage either?Comment

I think when LRT returns, in a few weeks, we put him at FB with Ted and Marty in the pockets, Marty was clearly injured in the last quarter against the Dogs, which is why perhaps Gia got off the chain.(referring to another post) While were at it, what happens when Eski comes back in, which won't take as long as LRT in the ressies because Mal did a full pre season while LRT was doing rehab. That's when Shaw might go to the bench or as a sub or moved forward. One thing is certain, when Mal is fit, he willl play, someones going to miss out, and it won't be at the expense of our stronger defensive plyers, being Marty and Teddy. As long as Marty is fit i'd keep playing him, while we a re playing some young blokes, they are going to run out of gas in the last q, so we will need some old heads out thereYou can't argue with a sick mind - Joe WalshComment

Pykey out for 3 to 4 weeks! What a tremendous shame after he had worked so hard to force his way in. Welcome back to the team Seaby, White or LRT.
