It would be nice to see us crack the hundred point mark for once this year tomorrow night..... I think to do that we need a spread of goalkickers without relying on one or two key forwards. I hope everyone's had their goalkicking practice this week (and that the doctors, physios and other brains at the club have actually let them have some goalkicking practice)....

The next Plugger? There will never be another Plugger.

Resting forward and kicking a few goals is entirely different to playing there permanently.

Our team seems to be midfield focussed. This is fine when a Bradshaw is standing at FF but he isn't. Goodes can't be everywhere, Reid is still a baby, Everitt is eratic and a ruckman can't be seriously expected to be our main avenue to goal.

I would take out Bird and Nipper. Not because they are performing poorly but because they aren't as big a threat in the forward line as to what TDL and Bevan would be. Especially when we don't have the big power forwards.
Bevan a threat in the forward line? You can's be serious right? He may apply some good forward pressure but that's about it.

        I agree on TDL though.

Bevan, Moore and White dropped in recent weeks and some of our very good recent draft picks brought in to the side at their expense, e.g. Reid, Parker, Gordon, Johnston.

I am very pleased with the opportunities that Longmire & Co are giving our younger players. The coaches can obviously see what most of us can see, and that is - Bevan, Moore and White are not in our best 22.

As we havn't been carry them for all years past at the expense of kids, Hell White is a big-er kid still.

was reading his book again the other day and wondering how he would be used in the modern game. Guess he would be asked to press up and help with the zone in defence, i did imagine him just alone in the forward 50 getting pissed off waiting for the footy.

He probably wouldn't get a game as his forward defensive pressure would be lacking and he doesn't meditate or do yoga.

Not to defend the "Mummy to FF" idea (which I think would be counter-productive), but Barassi on occassion would throw David Dench from FB to FF to give extra juice to the Forward Line if he thought more firepower was needed at the expense of defence. Just sayin'

Gordon, Parker and Johnson may not be in our best 22 either, only time will tell. I've got no doubt those three will play again at some stage and all of them have at least played some decent football.

Actually haven't read his book, I should try and find a copy. Probably similar to the way Bradshaw's used when he actually plays I guess - he presses up a bit but normally stays forward of the centre.

Wouldn't imagine Barassi would start Dench at FF and then take 2 1/2 quarters to move him back while the team is getting killed.

He put the fear of god into defenders so his pressure was fine.
