Seem to remember a guy from the Eagles called Hunter who went forward and caused maximum damage to us. Its a well used ploy by many coaches over many years from the old era to the modern. Voss was just unlucky nobody could get it down there.
Changes for Rnd 8 V Port Adelaide (Luke Parker to debut!)

Luck had nothing to do with Voss taking 2 1/2 qtrs to realise that it wasn't working and move him back...And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

Come on Big Al! You taught me that coaches know best! Unless you have hidden mikes in the change rooms you don't know what instructions Merrit was given. We mere mortals can't possibly judge the actions of our superiors "The AFL Coach". See? I learnt well from you!Comment

Didn't Sheedy win a GF doing precisely that? And Voss as you rightly note a respected AFL coach did the very same last week. But I tend to agree that the "resting at FF" is the best option right now. I AM impressed by Mumford's Forward sense. This guy is absolute GOLD and part of my suggestion is based on not wearing him out. Running his guts out, overloading him with work and then getting the inevitable injury is not good coaching either. Surprised therefore that Seaby is not in and LRT in his return match might have an overload too.
And as for Mummy, I really wish they'd simply swapped Seaby for Pyke. But I won't harp on about it. Much.He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)Comment

I said at the time of his appointment that it would all end in tears. It was a huge mistake to pick an untried, inexperienced favourite son who had not done any sort of apprenticeship. And as for Mummy, I really wish they'd simply swapped Seaby for Pyke. But I won't harp on about it. Much.Chillin' with the strange QuarksComment

- who has been second banana for 9 years
- who applied for senior coaching positions at other clubs during this period without success
- 12 months in advance without knowing what other candidates would be available
- without undergoing any sort of process to compare him to other potential candidates
Not exactly what I would consider best practiceComment

As opposed to hiring a bloke:
- who has been second banana for 9 years
- who applied for senior coaching positions at other clubs during this period without success
- 12 months in advance without knowing what other candidates would be available
- without undergoing any sort of process to compare him to other potential candidates
Not exactly what I would consider best practice
I'm happy with the transition and the way it was handled but at the end of the day like all boards and coaches they will be judged on their results...And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

That would be like putting your best defender at FF and no senior coach would do that.(Voss, what were you thinking)
I've always advocated for what Horse did last week and have the resting Ruckman at FF so was a little surprised that Seabs didn't come in for the Pyke. Will be interested to see if Mummy goes forward this week while LRT pinch hits in the ruck.Comment

He withdrew from the StKilda race a few years ago before it went too far down the track. At the time I and others thought that the Swans may have had a quiet word in his ear that Roosy was only a few years away from calling it quits and that he was at the forefront of their plans moving forward.
Added to that, by pulling out of the running it gave a leg up to Lyon who I can assume whilst not as tight as Ross/Roos, he was/is a mate.
Which other jobs has he applied for unsuccessfully ??Driver of the Dan Hannebery bandwagon....all aboard. 4th April 09Comment
