It's time to recognize the limitations of the side - which I love they compete and scrap and never give in. But they simply can't score enough goals to beat any of the really strong clubs.
Agreed. The Weagles forward options would have to be the envy of just about everyone in the AFL. Natanui, Cox, Le Cras, Kennedy, Lynch, plus the attacking midfield options they have.

Today was a test to see if we could mix it with the top four. Oh well.

But of the ten games remaining, eight are against teams currently below u. We we should be able to win six or seven of those and get a 5th or 6th place finish.

Unbelievable number of forced and unforced errors today, starting with goalkicking. If we'd taken our chances we would have been in front at halftime.

We also headed Carlton on some key stats: contested possessions 152-145 and inside50s 46-42. Incredible really that they scored 5goals more than us from four fewer entries. That's the effect of our dumb turnovers and their efficient kicking.

They outtackled us 70 to 88 though. We're never going to beat top sides if we let them outpressure us. If we don't bring our defensive game to ANZ next week we'll get smashed by even more.

Kennedy is the example of how you need to be patient with key forwards and why we need to be very patient with Reid, White and LJ. He has finally really clicked the last 12 months, but before that he was a talented player but very much on and off as well. The wegos unfortunately are starting to build a very good side again.

Since White is getting into form in the reserve and we know what TDL can do, this combo should be given the chance to work in a few solid games. TDL would lend confidence to White, and TDL runs would open up more space for white. If white does not stand up, yes we have to let him go end of season.

Not unstoppable, completely unmarked. He wandered around their forward line like a whore with the pox. No one went within 20 feet of him.

It's stupid and inaccurate but not offensive IMO. Are they unaware that Roosy left of his own free will? Does news travel that slowly down Lygon St?

I think White was dropped - in part to a bad run, but also due to his ineffectiveness in the ruck....hence the perseverance with LRT in that role.

Like to hear the view of the ressie watchers on whether Currie is more likely tha White for the FF/part-time ruck role particularly considering his current run of form.

White is more suited as the second/3rd target....I think there's room for White, Currie, TDL and LJ all in the same forward line, though very young. I am still advocating McVeigh forward for leadership.
The eternal connundrum "what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object" was finally solved when David Hasselhoff punched himself in the face.

It shows how irrelevant to today's game these blokes have become. I wouldn't have thought Cometti or McAvaney saw Johnson play because they came from different states. If they did they were likely only whipper snappers.
Bob Johnson played for East Fremantle in the WAFL (very successfully) after his VFL career. I can remember him. He was a big actor feigning for frees. Dennis Cometti is marginally older than me (Dennis played for West Perth in the latter part of the 60's - 1966? 1967?) went to school with my older cousin. He would have well and truly have known of and seen Big Bob Johnson.

....on second thought maybe there's not, when you add McGlynn and Reid.

Shutting down MCGlynn was smart and something I think we'll start to see more of.

                            Anyone?

You never see the Canadiens @ Leafs kind of stuff you see in the USA (that to be honest I find completely baffling).

As it is in European football, in the AFL the home team is always listed first, even if news bulletins will just the winning team on top of the losing team (if that makes sense)

Enough said by all of you already. Today was horrendous viewing. I gave up cheering in the 3rd quarter. Just talked with my friends in the Cheer Squad with a game going on in the background. That was fun, NOT!

Carlton are like watching 4 quarters of circle work at training; hardly any body contact at all. All players chipping little passes to each other without us laying a finger on them. Once again we are kings of junk time. Our passes suddenly seem to stick when the other team relaxes a bit.

And to think what Collingwood will do to us next week.

I thought that Dennis clearly had thought that one through beforehand and introduced it so he could drop "sometimes a level playing field isn't so level".

What I learnt from yesterday was, McGlynn is either injured or just plain lazy, he defensive pressure was rubbish, constantly 20meters of his man when the Blues had the ball, and Carlton easily exposed it.

Jetta is offering nothing, in fact two parts of nothing still offer more than Jetta, time for a spell in the seconds.....

LRT in not a FF and will never be, Jesse White must be in next week, seriously why isnt Longmire putting more time into this bloke astounds me.

OUTS: McGlynn (replaced by Moore) Jetta (replaced by Bevan or TDL) LRT (replaced by Jesse White)
