You are certainly right RBS1, but you'd be hard pressed not to admit that McVeigh has been very ordinary this season by his high standards. Our whole team effort is not good enough that is clear, but then again as a Captain, McVeigh is one of the men that needs to lift to lift the rest of the team, and he hasn't done that this year so far when required.

Agree. He was more of a passenger today.

Dunstall on MMM gave him 3 votes for worst on ground.

Worst on ground??!! That's a harsh call, and a tough award to be giving. Having said that, there's no doubt Macca is well down on form this year. We all know he is capable of more so, other than dropping him, what can the coaching staff do to help him get his mojo back?

He's a good player, always has been just never from the outside saw him as a leader, surprised either Shaw or b2 didn't get the job tbh.
Maybe the captaincy is weighing on him a bit.
Maybe get shaw to have a talk with him, it worked with malcheski to get him back in form.

He's definitely out of sorts. I'd put him in the forwardline and tell him he needs to earn his spot in the midfield back.
Officially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!

Simple, take the captaincy off him, and let him play footy.
Not everyone is Captain material. and IMHO he fits that bucket.

At least Goodes tried to lift the team yesterday. and as soon as he went on the ball had an impact.

Agree 100 per cent! We need more spark. Maybe "the run with role" and Captaincy is too much. His delivery into the forward 50 is being missed.

Jarrad's a nice guy, but he's not captain material. A lot of people aren't; the burden of leadership is too much for most of us to bear.

Take the captaincy burden off his shoulders, and give it to Goodes. And then tell Goodes to forget about it, and just play his natural game.

Has captaincy been removed from a player mid season before?

My beef with Mcveigh is that he doesn't appear to be putting in any of that hard running that characterised his 2008 break out season. His endurance and supposed ability to find space are his best attributes but he's not making the most of them at the moment. Even against the lesser teams, I don't think we've seen much of it this year. I don't think he should be dropped but I'd love him to go back and listen to his own speech at the pre season dinner.

Yes. The speech was very inspiring. Especially if you were there in person and could feel the emotion in the room.

Pity he can't walk the talk.

The speech writer obviously deserves the kudos.
