Proud team effort against the Pies. The opportunity presented itself through the Pies poor kicking .13 goals 21pts opened up a rare chance to beat them.Loved the way Shaw really got inside Daisy's head and the uncertainty spread through the Pies.We lost one we could have and maybe should have won through our own mistakes however eg Tadhg handballing straight to the opposition reminded me of Luke Ablett.

Reg was completely done over by Cloke and I was annoyed that Horse let him be so demoralised and humiliated. Why wasn't Cloke doublemanned? Other teams used to do this to Barry Hall all the time.Why was Reg left on him for so long? 6 goals from Cloke out of 13 for the whole game should not have been allowed and it hurt us in the end.

Overall,great effort from an undermanned team. We have the makings of a top 4 side but need a bit of tweeking.

Whilst I probably shouldn't be, I'm surprised by a few folks seeming down on White's play in the forward line. Not saying he was a star, but I thought he was leading and doing a decent job with spacing? I saw him put on some good blocks for teammates to lead as well.

I don't recall Seaby resting at all in the forward line, so when we see TOG% stats for the two it should be easy enough to work out roughly how much time White actually spent up forward.

Did anyone else notice that it looked like poor Jude was wearing odd socks?

Add me to the proud-despite-the-loss crowd. It's very rare for me to go the "noble loss" route - we either get more points and win or we just lose!, usually is my attitude - but man, if we can play this determinedly against any side other than Geelong or Collingwood we'd surely win (and against those top two we'd even have a chance, moronic conspiratorial umpiring aside). Maybe if the Swans go into every game from here on with the nothing-to-lose, throw-everything-we-got-against-them mindset they professed pre-game this weekend, we can comfortably crack the top 4.

... though granted the "go for broke" talk came from poor Kieran J, who was virtually concussed within seconds and then out injured for good later ...

A mised opportunity. For the coaching panel that is. Reg has shown before that he cant counter the strong player. Could have should have put White on Cloke to battle with him and learn how to play in front. Jesse has the build to play CHB. Could have then put LJ forward (actually thpought he did Ok in defence except for the 'mark') Could have used LRT as ruck back up also. The coaching panel isnt adventourous enough.
Also too many mistakes again, Tagh i'm not sure what he was doing with that handball and Daniel that kick.

You can't use key defenders as your back up ruckman, who will play on their man when they go into the ruck.

I was happy to see LJ taking kick-ins and generally getting it the hell out of 50. I thought he looked composed and did a good job, can forgive him the punch instead of mark- I am guessing he thought it wasn't 15 and didn't know how clear he was, combined with a 2nd gamer still learning how to play at that end who has probably been told before the game to punch 1st, 2nd & 3rd option.

And either TDL or Nipper for Bevan would go down well with me. I think Bevan has been a decent small forward at times but he showed little composure or intelligence with how he used the ball this evening.

Wow. Could not disagree any more on Bevan.

He came in and added energy, commitment and a ferocious attack on the ball that our forward line has been missing for too long.

Along with TDL, Spangher as a forward must be seriously considered in the coming weeks. If he continues to show the great hands, speed and accurate kicking that he showed up forward today then we may have found our tall forward target. Long shot maybe but he really impressed me today.

We are on the same page here. Spangher surprised the hell out of me. He has a clean grab and good kicking action, and he is a big unit. I would think he has to be in contention up forward sooner rather than later. However he has had a huge wadge of time out of the game, so match fitness may be an issue to start with.
Need to bring in Luke Parker for poor ole Kiz. He is such a tough little bugger. Plays with attitude and take no prisoners; good foil for Jude.

The amount of work Shaw did, the amount of effort Smooch put in, the fact that LRT will play wherever he is put with equal endeavour, the contesting that White did needs to be acknowledged by us, if not by the rest of the world. Will not criticise LJ, its his SECOND game for pete's sake! no easing in for him. And if he is kicking in it means that Tadgh is probably nursing a groin (which explains a lot). We had no passengers. We just plaid a very very good team who are better than us, at present.

LJ, its his SECOND game for pete's sake! no easing in for him. And if he is kicking in it means that Tadgh is probably nursing a groin (which explains a lot). We had no passengers. We just plaid a very very good team who are better than us, at present.

It might suggest Tadhg is carrying something, but it worked quite well as a tactic regardless - especially against the Pies who are so good at the forward press. It meant that they were able to clear the ball to at least a boundary throw in outside the forward 50m. Against lesser sides it might make sense to try and pinpoint passes out of defence a bit more, but it is close to impossible to do that against the Pies.

Didn't see the ressies so wait with bated breath for the advent of Spangher in the ones.
As for the others, emphatic yes to all of them, including LJ whose kick-ins, I agree, were a badly-needed addition to our repertoire.
As for Tadhg, if he is nursing a groin we can manage without him until he's fit. Others can do his job.

Bevo has to learn to take marks out in front of him in his hands rather than wait for it to come onto his chest. We genuinely lost w or 3 really good looking forward movements because he tried to take it on his chest, ball spoilt and rebounded by the Pies. Otherwise he looked fine again. His hard body and pressure is great to have deep in the forward line.
