Lewis Jetta is not lazy. He is an exciting youngster with a lot to learn, who tends to drift in and out of games, but most players in their first couple of years tend to do that. Also have you looked at his body - he isn't exactly a big unit and I'd bet he's been instructed to remain as an outside runner and leave the grunt-work under packs to the bigger, stronger bodies. I reckon he's worked his skinny backside off to get where he is at this point in time, not having exactly having taken the easiest path to a spot on an AFL list, and I object to him being labelled as lazy.

[QUOTE=Big Al;536302]Excuse me!!
Have a look at the post I was responding to which stated that TDL proved himself in the Carlton game and should be in the seniors because of it. All I did was point out that he had a poor game the week after. Also where do I state that the Bulldogs loss was TDL's fault. Don't bother because you find anywhere where i say that. Also go back through my posts and find where I have on numerous occassions state that I'm a fan of TDL and that he will be an important part of our next premiership.[/QUO
But you did point out that he had a bad game but you could have added that he wasn't the only one. The other thing about that game was that the delivery was woeful to the forwards. I didn't think you were a fan at all Big Al but if so I appologise, it is just that there are several appologists for several underperformers here who seem to knock players who do have a bit of nous & it erks me. One bad game & someone else pointed out his two this year have not been so good. He did manage to kick 2 in his last in a half, I believe he was not quite at full fitness & still a little bothered by the injury/illness he suffered. i didnot mean to infer you put the loss down to TDL but I was just saying a lot of others had good games agasinst Carlton & not against the Bullies.
I believe in the Bullies gamraddy coming back lost us the game! We concentrated all oiur attacks on Braddy & were repelled time & time again & it didn't help that the ball was being delivered over his head or under him. That was because they hadn't played with him for so long the players were not used to his style of leading. Coaches & selectors mistake, an old VFL/AFL saying 'If it ain't broke don't fix it' we were going hotguns until Bullies & I believe we were the better team but selection beat us.
So inm closing an appology if I have unintendingly misrepresented you Big Al but I was just trying to ppoint out that other players & coaching staff were also responsible for that loss as well & certainly he had a bad one on a very good opponent, Harbrow I think? footy is a team game & too many of us can get carried away with the effectiveness or otherwise of one player. sometimes a player has a bad day, take Goodesie, then only to bounce back next week, brilliantly I might add.
I want to see TDL in our 'A's as I think a few games under his belt & he will be very good for us & I would hate to come to contract time & have him say "Sorry GWS has offered more":Comment

I am a massive fan of TDL but understand where the coaching staff are coming from with him. That's all.
As far as GWS is concerned under no circumstances would anyone want the coaching staff to make decisions based on whether the player might gets the @@@@s and walk. Can you imagine the can of worms that would open up if the selection policy was based on this...And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

If you bothered to read my earlier post you would have read that I say he is young & still learning the game. He is lazy for AFL level & most players when they first start AFL tend to be a bit this way as they are not yet sure of what is required this level. Everritt I can't excuse as he didn't chase on a couple of occassions & he is an experienced player, he knows what is required. Jetta will get it & very soon as he will relise what is required at this level. He has to improve his tackling yet & build up a bit but not too much as this will effect his speed, more strength training than pure build. I agree he is a player in the making, learning his trade. In the meantime he makes mistakes at this level & will continue to unless the coaches correct them. He would be a mega-star in the WAFL, SANFL or VFL without the full on chasing pressure but in the AFL he needs to step the pressure up a notch to be a regular & I am sure the Coaching staff have related this to him.
I think he is an amazing talent, just very raw at this stage.
BTW I think it's hard for any of the youngsters not in the team to really get a taste of AFL footy - they certainly won't get it in the NEAFL, except perhaps against the other AFL ressies sides plus GWS, so all we can really do is trust the coaching staff to condition them as best they can. Doesn't stop us all having our 10 cents worth though!Comment

LJ and Moore named for the reserves, who are playing Sat arvo, so it looks like Everitt is the travelling emergency and they're expecting Ted and AJ to play.
Rohan's reserves return - Official AFL Website of the Sydney Swans Football Club
First he got a gold pass for the first quarter of the season and he was well out of his depth. More recently he has been a sub or a travelling emergency.
He needs game time and a set position in the reserves to gain some confidence and work out where his best position is. At the moment he isn't anywhere near our best 22.
If Ted and AJ are expected to be fit, then he is going to miss another match, if one of them are unlikely to be fit (which is probably the case) his form doesn't warrant selection.

Good points - the only thing I don't like is labelling someone as lazy. Unsure of himself at times on the field, and he certainly looks heisitant at time as he is just learning the game, but I just don't like the term lazy. Maybe it's just me....

I am far from a fan of Everitt's but the selection committee's recent treatment of him is shocking.

Structure. I don't think the selectors sit around thinking "X is playing like crap but he's good bloke so let's play him". Rather there are some players who have a role beyond what we see. But that can change too - Moore was integral last year but he's out enough that is no longer the case and he has to get a game purely on merit.
But I don't think many here think beyond the obvious on the field. The selectors would be looking at the whole player profile in making the decision. I really hope that TDL, who could easily be a star a la daisy in a few years, is in the 2s because he'll develop better there - rather than the coach disliking him. Everitt is a confidence player that they still hope to turn into a good Swan. Others give enough (Tadhg, Mal, Goodes) that you play them through their bad patches.
I'd be very disappointed if players were picked as favourites - and it'd seem to be the best way for a coach to fail as it will be noticed. Tough love/nurturing - we have a very promising bunch and I want to see them turn into a team of game winners. I'd love to see TDL back soon - and Rohan being his talented self in the seniors asap.Comment

Harbrow was the guy running away from TDL and Jarrod Moore, both who looked as tho they were glued to the spot and not interested in chasing, as we pissed a 5 goal lead up against the wall...Driver of the Dan Hannebery bandwagon....all aboard. 4th April 09Comment

What I am saying is that some of our older blokes have been carrying injuries this year & should have been given a rest to combat the injury. Maca admitted he has been playing with an injury, Mal said he has had a niggle for a couple of weeks, Tadhg has pulled up with soreness a couple of times. I am not saying op them I am saying let them recover & then get the best out of them. I don't think our selectors have always got the match ups right this year, I think there has been a bit of hit & miss. What's more if we are playing match up foooty then we are playing a totally defensive structure from the start. You need to make them match up on you, let them go on the defensive & chase you while you are attacking with your structure. Even then you still retain the main defensive tagger roles that are needed but they now have to do the same. As to players playing through bad patches sometimes a rest is the best policy to freshen a player up & get rid of the niggles. If it is just form & hasn't come good in 3 to 4 weeks then no matter who they are they need to go to the dew kickersComment

I don't believe you should give youngsters at a footy club the message that if you are a very good senior player you are imune to being dropped even if you don't perform. It is the wrong message & no club that did that ever won a premiershipComment

How would you rate the delivery to the forewards in the last half? Do you think the over concentration of the Braddy lead had any bearing on the outcome? The boys kicked to Braddy time & time again only to get it repelled as he was monstered, blocked from the ball or the deliverey was no good. With Braddy returning we changed our whole game plan even though Roos said we would not over concentrate on Braddy. What CRAP, we shoved the ball down the poor blokes throat all day & the Doggies were a wake up to it.Comment

This argument is about why, when the TDL disciples mention the Carlton final, those who are backing the current match committee cannot mention the Bulldogs final?
I'm sure he will get back in and I hope it's soon, I really do, but at this stage I'm happy to back the club in. I just reckon they know what he is capable of offensively, but want to make sure he bloody well knows the pathetic defensive effort he delivered in the Bulldogs final last year will never be acceptable.Driver of the Dan Hannebery bandwagon....all aboard. 4th April 09Comment
