I haven't seen a great deal of him but was impressed by that part of his game the times I did see him
I'm not sure who you thought needed 'protection' tonight. The forward line is the main issue to be rectified

But it's needed rectification all season. This was not a night for marking forwards - so you might think it would have suited our non marking forwards. But we simply do not make the most of our opportunities. And this happens over and over again

I really, really, really don't like the way they go into a competition for the ball and shepherd a player instead of trying to pick up the ball.

It happened about 20 times - the crows came through and picked up the ball easily and ran away with it.

Whichever coach is training this and allowing this to happen should be getting a massive kick up the arse.

IMO - that's what lost us the game - oh, and our @@@@ kicking in front of the sticks.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

I agree completely and also there is a lot of that when the ball is in the air. Too often our players are doing the right thing keeping their opponent under the ball but not themselves trying to get the ball and the ball goes over their heads and hits a leading forward on it's chest or alternatively goes another 30 metres down the line.

Have a look how often the ball went over the back of a defenders for us to go back and have to try and force the ball over the line about thirty metres further down the field.

Well I cared and I'd reckon plenty other RWO'ers cared. I betchya Scott Thompson cared, he may have thought he might be able to get an uncontested possession at last.

We have had a forward line all season??

We had a back man, a very small forward, and other rubbish pretending to be a forwards, and their kicking showing that they are not.

Why this is still not seen by the coaching pannel shows what how crap they are.

How many games must go by when we kick 5.15 and still there is not a change.

We are lucky to be in the eight, but there is now a good chance we will not play final footy!

Just read Damien Hardwick's words on the Tigers smashing yesterday. He said to his players: "I don't ever want to speak about that game again."

I've decided I feel the same way about last night.

Better known as Footy Park to Adelaidians. The expectation was a win & even though the weather was bad we should have still won. I am sorry but the get over it thing I don't get! We are in this Comp to win it not to make up the numbers & if that is your attitude then no wonder the Swans took 40 years to win anothewr Preniership!! Winning is everything!!! The Premiership the goal of every footballer & the epitomy of greatness in this arena! Don't tell me to get over it! If I feel like venting I will thank you as I think that this forum supports that to a certain extent. We lost because we created the conditions to lose!!!
Agreed. Mediocrity is our strong suit right now.

Yep, Bird was playing another sterling game. He is really showing us how good he is. His has the ability to run with players and win plenty of his own footy and at both ends of the ground. Him going off had a big bearing on the result for mine.

Clearly the Adelaide coaches watched the Carlton game because this is exactly what happened in that game. The frustrating thing in the Carlton game was we seemed to have our hands on the footy in contests only for Carlton to whisk it away. Last night it always looked like an Adelaide player got the body in and under to get it out and move it on but we wanted the constant stoppage.

When you are game to watch the first half again watch Birdys one on one efforts. Every time he avoided the contest allowing his opponent to get the ball first. Another "No bruise" effort IMO.
