Agree. Whenever we pick these 4 we effectively play with 18 players.

We are not a quick team, which makes me wonder why we would attempt to play one of the largest grounds with too many talls. And I'm not talking about the Smith Everitt swap. A backline that includes LRT, Grundy, Johnson and Ted is way too top heavy even if it hadn't been a wet night. And we've been too tall down back for most of the season, I think playing LRT as a ruckman/forward is probable a recognition of this problem.
LRT is the only player that comes close to being able to handle the monsters and he needs more time down back. Grundy is our CHB, which means either Ted or Alex probably has to go (in addition to Everitt).

As for the front end, we HAVE to have a big body up there. Not so much to rack up a big goal tally (that was never going to happen in Saturday nights deluge with Ben Rutten anyway). But simply to take some of the attention and heat off the likes of Sam Reid and TDL, neither of them perform well when they are playing as a sole forward target. In the absence of a real full forward we need to think in terms of a Decoy or a Dummy. If that decoy can negate their key defender, take a turn in the ruck and occasionally score a goal, that would tick all the boxes we can hope for atm.
The only question then is who that big body should be?

The fact that he isn't meeting expectations of kicking goals is a problem, but is it a problem of his performance or our expectations?

He's pretty immobile, which limits the negating part of the role. On the other hand he can certainly ruck and take a grab up forward.

Injured himself again in the 2's, but it could be a very interesting experiment to try again (worked agains the dogs).
Spanky?
Is he big enough to take a turn in the ruck? I'm not sure but otherwise, why not give him a go?

Yes I know, he hasn't got a big body, on the other hand HE doesn't know that and plays like a wrecking ball. So perhaps he could be tried, especially when the dummy FF is in the ruck and the ruckman is resting on the bench.

Spanger for White , give him a try. All the ressie watchers say he puts in and is a GOOD kick for goal.
Jack for Bird (inj)
Malceski for Kennelly, he gives as more drive now days.
Smith for LRT. We can't have too many talls in the back line and Spanger will be the forward/ruck.
TDL for bevan, while Bevan tries hard TDL is a goal kicker and he can be part of the future of the club.
LJ for Everitt, to me Everitt looks happy just to get a game and is not up to it while Roos has said that LJ is the best kick at the club and i think he should be given a good run in the main team. Also he plays back and forward so he gets the nod that Everitt has been getting for versatility.

LJ wasa great against the Pies kicking in. He was able to kick 50 to 60 mtres to a target or pinpoint a contest that suited us & put the ball in the best posi for our Ruck or tall to mark. That is one of the problems we have when kicking in, it is no good just to bomb the ball and hope our t will mark especially when you don't kick it to their advantage. You need someone who is a pinpoint kick & can kick to advantage all the time & LJ seems to be able to do that & he can also kick a 60 metre goal.

I don't blame White for our problems because the real cause is that Reid has yet to develop good quick disposal and straight goal kicking. White is ahead in terms of goals scored per time in the forward line. Spangher coming into form and Mummy coming back complicates the scenario but if Spangher is a finisher he should be in the side.That is the quandry, who goes? White or Reid (Everitt for sure). Or perhaps Mumy gets a game in the 2s so that he is not rusty like he was gainst Carlton. There is no doubt that when Reid clicks we will have a top player but at this stage he is not a real class forward. AJ is doing OK on the flank atm but the way he seems to be growing we are going to have another top KPP, not a flanker.
