I just had a listen & read the injury report & TDL not listed or mentioned so he is either fit or not with us anymore? Not listed in any dispatches at all & I am a bit worried! If he is fit & doesn't get a game then I don't know what a player has to do? Kennelly & White have to go!!! Bolts back in & what about bringing in TDL if he is fit as he isn't on the injury list I presume he is.

The last 3 weeks he played Seaby's possession count was 2, 12 and 14, and he took 8 marks nothing to get me too excited there. From what I can see we have played two rucks 5 times (twice Pyke, 3 times Seaby) for an average 8 posessions out of the second ruckman.
Brown's previous form makes no difference, what matters is what has made him successful and it is the ability to justify a field position but to also pinch hit in the ruck.
I understand that he wasn't played as a forward while at West Coast but I don't understand why 71 goals in 121 games (or 2 in 7 this season) is a good haul or is enough to suggest that Seaby is a forward (nor am I hearing much from the ressies about a swag of goals). Pyke may offer enough to classify as a player that can justify a forward position independently but I can't see how offers enough to get a game when Mumford (who you mention is All Australian level and surely can't be dropped) is in the side.Comment

2010 - Played ruck the whole time for his small number of games
2011 - Has only played twice with Mummy. Once as a sub so hardly counts. I don't recall him spending much time in his 2.5 qtrs against the Blues.
This notion that Seaby can't play forward is based on absolutely nothing. How can you claim a player is bad at something when they have never been tried there???Comment

I can't understand why they don't play Seaby in Jesse's role.
They get a proper ruckman and a very tall forward. He's not any worse than Jesse as a forward.
Can anyone explain? In memory of my little Staffy - Dicey, 17.06.2005 to 1.12.2011- I'll miss you mate.Comment

Another possibility would have been Currie to FF to be a spear head and start some kind of structure which we sadly lack and have lacked all year.Comment

Having said that I'm not averse to 2 ruckman. My point was that I would prefer a Mummy/Pyke combo.Last edited by Big Al; 20 July 2011, 08:15 AM...And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. Will Horse bring in a player that hasn't played for 3 weeks?? If he was fit and ready to go he should have either played senior or reserves last week. As it stands I think he'll be playing at TDL stadium this week...And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. No-one said anything about dropping Mummy & I still think we need 2 ruckmen as their value is at the h/o's. In games against the top 4 they win the ruck & also the game as they get the clearances. I don't know where you are getting your stats from it couldn't be at the Swans site as the stats are down there. So if you have the stats at your disposal tell me how many h/o's LRT has got this year in how many games compared to Seaby & Mummy & what % of game time he has spent in ruck. Tell me how many disposals LRT has collected this year & justify his placement for me except for last week.
Swans site works fine for me but doesn't provide time on ground stats and certainly not in a specific position. The justification is exactly what I said before: LRT offers something other than purely as a ruck. He's an excellent defender (arguably our best) and has had some success up forward. In the age of the sub I'd rather have a field player that can ruck a bit rather than a ruck player that can't do much else.
I'm also a bit intrigued why there is support for Seaby to grow into a forward role but no-one thinks that LRT can improve in the ruck. We have a great track record of developing rucks and I'd suggest that LRT's body type and athleticism is similar to a Leigh Brown or Roughead who have done exceptionally well there.Comment
