I simply dont accept that. We will start bookies favourite in two games, and will be evens in two games. If the saints run continues there is no way we will start faves against them and essendon at etihad i am sure will start fave against us, even if it is 1.8 to 1.9Comment

I say we all do a whip-around and send the Essendon boys out on the town this week. See if we can get a few more of them like this: http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/af...-1226105812782Comment

At Centrebet:
10am Essendon $1.80 Sydney $2
11am $1.91 each of 2
12:00 $1.88 Essendon $1.93 Sydney
now $1.94 Essendon $1.87 Sydney
I opened the market on Betfair yesterday morning at $1.80 Essendon hoping to get a nibble before the Essendon/Pies game. I got a very small bite at $1.82 and again this morning at $1.92 when I extended the price. I took a larger bet at $1.92 just after 10 when the Centrebet market went online. It is currently 2.02 on Betfair for Essendon with no takers. I have left my money at $1.98 and hopefully they may shorten marginally in the next few days...Driver of the Dan Hannebery bandwagon....all aboard. 4th April 09Comment

It's been an active betting day.

Betfair is a betting exchange, you are betting with other people, not a bookmaker. They just take 5% of profits from the winner.
So YOU set the market, for example if you are happy to take 2.00 Sydney, you enter that bet and if somebody somewhere else in the world is happy to bet you, they 'lay' Sydney and the bet is matched. Once it's matched it's all done.
Typically the odds are much better, but remember you are worse off 5% of your profits if you turn a profit on any one event. That means if you have multiple positions on the same event, you only pay on profits. eg. I posted Richmond at $6 yesterday afternoon for the game against WC next week. Some guy somewhere in the world took $20 worth of the bet overnight. Now I have no real interest in just standing to lose $100 if Richmond somehow win, I just thought that I would get better odds later. Well when I checked at lunchtime today, Richmond were at $11, so I could just have $10 on Richmond to cover that part of the bet and collect $10 if WC win. I would only pay commission on the $10 I win (50c).
This form of betting is very big in the UK and starting to get a hold in Australia. They hold some big money. By the time they reached the last stage of the Tour de France (they bet on EVERYTHING) there was in excess of $10 million just in the win pool, not counting all the exotics.
The Friday night game is a big one each week and holds around the 5-600,000 mark each week.
I can guide you if you like, but the tutorial on the site itself is VERY comprehensive.
Good luck and if you do decide to join up, let me know, I think we can get a bonus if you get referredDriver of the Dan Hannebery bandwagon....all aboard. 4th April 09Comment

Highly recommend Betfair as well. Particularly good for the horses but it can take a little while to get your head around.
On topic, I'll say no change for this week.Bloods

I don't bet for one simple reason... I'm bad luck. If I bet on a horse to beat a snail, the horse would get gout and have to stop.
* thinking evil thoughts*
Maybe I should back Essendon this week...And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC
