The only time I'll squarely aim the target at a coach is when I see a list that is consistently under performing to it's abilities. We are a developing list which means inconsistent performances. Something people need to deal with. Wanting a coach sacked in the first year is silliness in the extreme. There is lot to like about our list still and I do not waver from the fact that by 2013 we'll have a side that will be consistent and challenging for a flag. A little pain every now and then is a small price to pay for this.
..And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

Maybe I am being unduly pessimistic, BUT I reckon we will be no closer in 2013 than now. Rok, Bolton, goodes all gone. Richards, lrt probably gone. Goodes is our only genuine game changer and as evidenced today if not him then no one. Free agency will be here. We are going to need to find key position players and some stars. That's a lot to ask for from compromised drafts

Collingwood supporters probably had similar reservations a few years ago.

I just think there is enough young talent in the club that will give us success. Maybe I have rose coloured glasses on but if I didn't have some optimism for the future then what's the point. I my as well go the movies of a weekend and join the Port Adelaide fansite where there is genuinely no hope for the future.

i dont get talk of getting rid of horse longmire.
we have a make shift team and blooded 9 new players so was always bound to be a plateau at some stage this season
if we had kicked straight we'd have won at least 3 or 4 more games and would be guaranteed finals and saying what a legend horse is
i agree with you though hammer.. we need to recruit stars at end of 2011!!
we have played an entire year with no key defenders or forwards and still may make the 8!

I'm optimistic about our future, I think we have again found some gems without bottoming out, but I refuse to accept today's result is part of a greater plan. It was unacceptable.

I remember around 2005 when we were up, all the Cats supporters I knew wanted Bomber gone.. They changed their tune not long after.. I must admit, Longmire isn't doing anything radical.. Though if he was, he would be copping it for a different reason. Today was the players fault IMO.. A real lack of intensity.. It is hard to explain after last weeks game.. Hopefully we can bring "it" next week against the Saints and try to make something out of the rest of the season.

I still want to know, how can we lose to Richmond? We seem to have a habit of losing to Richmond when we are favourites.

Since when do the coaches pull on a pair of boots and play?

Why are we blaming the coaches?

Blame rests solely and wholly on the shoulders of the PLAYERS.

You can't turn up to ANY game assuming "easy-beats" and put in a half-arsed effort.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

What I have learn't today - LRT is not a ruckman or a forward. AJ is no where near the level of elite defender. Jetta soft as butter. McGlynn defensive pressure is crap at best....

I put it down to the Indian clubs.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

                          For sure!!

And if I hear the two words 'Four quarters' coming from either player or coaches this week I am going to vomit. I can't handle hearing that anymore.

I was watching Maxfield warming up with Parker at 3qtr time.
I reckon he could've pulled on a jumper and played better, he still has a decent left boot on him!!

In 2009 we didn't make the finals, In 2010 we made the finals and weren't too far away from making the prelim, at the start of 2011 I think it would of been completely fair for fans to expect a push for the top 4 given our vast improvement in 2010 and where we ended up that year.
I think I am being fair, mate. I don't blame anyone for being "fed up", but I can disagree with their ideas about how to act on that, surely? If a Swans "supporter" says they're giving up supporting the Swans after a short run of poor performances, I say don't let the door hit you on the way out. What's unfair about that? OK, so maybe the OP was being hysterical and petulant, and really will get their red and white on and show up on game day, but I don't see why it's unfair of me to criticise such a fair weathered approach as expressed, and maybe my criticism helps highlight the response of giving up on your own team as a dummy spit out of all proportion.

You're right to an extent. I did think we'd do better than we have but knowing we'd have to feel the loss of Kirky, I figured we'd be around the same. Then once it was clear Bradshaw and Bolton were both gone, then Mal's knee, plus injuries to Rohan, Mummy, Kizza, Pykey...

+1. I don't think we've done so badly with what we've had this year. As everyone keeps saying, the forward line is the big worry and we need to be looking to snag someone to fill the role. Sammy Reid is fantastic but it's a bit much asking him to be THE forward.

All that said, we were soft yesterday, and as someone else said - un-Swanlike for most of the game.

Big Al nailed it, we have consistently underperformed this year

Anyone who suggests that the coaching department has got the best out of the playing squad this year is absolutely kidding themselves.

I just don't fathom how any supporter could be happy with the fact that we are unlikely to make the finals this year.
