I note that Malceski went back to the reserves for the mandatory one match for some much needed touch and return to form. Watching last nights game it is clear where the the difference is between the top 5 to 6 cluibs and the rest; hardness. So Malceski comes back in after a scintillating reserves performance against a Canberra team to face a team renowned for its hardness. A guess Tadgh can bank on a return to the ones next week with some certainty.

I feel we have picked a team AGAIN without considering the likely weather/ground conditions they are likely to play on.

It has been wet all week, and ANZ is in use for NRL tonight.

Parker and Meredith are better bets "to keep their feet" than White and Spangher - IMO

Having played and watched footy for 45 years I almost rated myself as having an idea about the game and what constitutes a poor, fair, good or great performance. This afternoon I have to admit I have NFI.

What do you tell Parker and Meredith this week ? Head back to the twos and rip into it like Nipper and Bulldog. Hey TDL you need to apply more forward pressure just like we did inside 50 last week against Richmond 4 times. And LJ we are thinking of giving you 1 more game soon mate - keep up that confidence. How could you honestly look players in the eye and provide them with instructions on what is expected when they have just watched several players repeated avoid the axe with performances that fly in the face of all that has been said to them.

I feel somewhat confused and frustrated at what has transpired over the past few months - and have occasionally laid some blame out of these emotions - more recently I have sat back to try and grasp something that I am obviously missing. We know that cultures are born over many years with a consistency of action, an unrelenting pursuit of standards and a fairness and honesty in the communication of the message. And leadership is a top down process that instills confidence and courage in those below. Without culture, without leadership we have confusion. The degree of passion / frustration in the box last week was a concern to me - that is where leadership starts - clearing what is planned is not communicated.

I wonder what the players feel - and I genuinely feel for some of these guys to have to sit and work thru - what appears to me - to be standards for some and not for others.

Well done to the ins - unlucky for some outs - and even luckier to others to have again held there spots.
I have very similar feelings. Sometimes it feels like there is a hidden agenda out there to make sure we don't make the finals. Are we tanking? It seems like a sick joke that LRT can be played injured when Seaby is in excellent form in the reserves and can arguably play both forward and rucking roles better than LRT. Jetta in and Parker out???? White in to play in the wet??? Gordon completely overlooked after a clear BOG and the worst game of the season by the seniors????

I am now having some serious doubts about how the ship is sailing and whether we have lost serious capability in the coaching and leadership department.
We have them where we want them, everything is going according to plan!

I tend to agree with Big Al that something must be wrong with Parker otherwise the decision not to play one of our gun recruits who has impressed so much makes no sense at all .I believe the coaches are not idiots or tankers so it has to be an injury or niggle that needs a rest. The alternative view is too demoralising to even contemplate.

I am wondering about Seaby's non selection. It appears very much to me that he has become one of the OOF players who are on the fringe for whatever reason, like TDL, Johnston, Merry and maybe Gordon who will perhaps get the odd game if things are desperate but maybe not even then. But while there are recognised reasons why some of the latter haven't been getting games, what can possibly be the reason for Seaby being overlooked for LRT and White? I suspect if Pyke was half fit he would also get chosen ahead of Seaby. Has Seaby killed the black cat or ...... ?

I think that not being chosen this week signals that his future with the Swans looks vey bleak indeed.

However to draw any kind of conclusion from this that the coaches and selectors are making a big mistake is not ok? Yet its ok for you to draw the conclusion that he is tired at this stage of the year?

The whole history of the AFL is full of instances of clubs being brought to their knees by Coaches and selectors making mistakes? Look at the Fevola mistake at the Lions as a recent example. There are countless others. We are meant to "have faith" and think this could not happen at the Swans? Why?

The other thing implicit in your opinion is that the people responsible for the mistake should not be subject to criticism. Why not? Coaches makes mistakes all the time. Its a very tough job because the canvas you are painting and your success at painting it is there for all to see every weekend. Copping criticism for failures simply goes with the territory.

A team where everybody accepts they are accountable, where coaches are accountable too for poor performance, where decision making is transparent is a good team/.

Of course (as supporters too) who want the team to flourish,we have every right to express our opinions on these matters .They are just opinions! Expressing them here is a harmless way to vent our frustration with perceived mistakes. Of course we could be totally wrong but the day we have to stop having a say just because we don,t have reams of proof is the day I will leave here because the discussion will be so boring,

There is no doubt that the Lions and us are at a disadvantage with our reserves playing in a much lower standard competition than the VFL, SANFL and WAFL. Players come into other AFL sides match hardened against bigger bodied and skillful players. Hard to see any other way around it other than an AFL reserves comp.

This is Jetta's last chance for me. He wouldn't even have the chance this week if it were up to me. Only runs hard one way! Better show a lot better effort this week!

It's not so much on one hand and the other - blind faith and no debate seem to go hand in hand more often than not...it's a match made in heaven.

What I find boring is people whose football knowledge and understanding is limited (at best) don't just confine their comments to what they see, but use this as the basis for making statements that are just uninformed and subversive drivel. By all means debate your thoughts on the merits of players or game plan. That's why this site exists. But please don't then morph personal opinion into "evidence" for uninformed scenarios that have no basis in fact.

                              I share your thinking Scottee.
I have always been one of the true believers on this site. Someone that has always had complete faith in the coaches and have always totally accepted their selections, but the changes this week, after what we witnessed last week has pushed me to the edge. I know we're not privvy to all the information the coaches are, but honestly Parker out? White in? Jetta playing week in and week out?
I just don't get it and my faith and belief in this team is just so low.

Reckon North will take our place in the eight and will make a far better fist of their chance then we would have.

Don't know how many of your posts are about football, but the majority I've seen are about how particular individuals, or the whole RWO community are idiots.
