When he was playing for the Wet Toasters I used to call him "Spanker" but happy to change my tune now that he plays for a REAL team.

Is this where I sign up to join the Spang fan club?????

I might have a slight drinking problem. My husband asked me to toast some bread for him...so I raised my wine glass and said "Here's to bread!"

Will this thread never die? "Spangus" it is IMO .... Sid Spangus .After the dictionary explanation of Spang we can't have that.

thanks Nich for the great 5 min clip of Spangher. What a player and how much he plays for the team. Enjoys playing and puts in his all every minute.

Hope he plays next week as I do think when he plays he lifts the players up with his great enthusiasm.
                      Love those Swans

Mark Fine and Robert Shaw gave Spangher a big rap this morning on SEN. They said he has given us another genuine mobile forward and commented on how hard he works.

They also talked about our young players and listed them. They said that whatever we do for the rest of the year they are already looking good for 2012.

Remarkable story, they said that 6 of our players went to Xavier College in Melbourne. They named them but I can only remember 3 of them; Hanners, Kennedy and Johnson.

Agree. The enthusiasm input is important and includes Red Rover (Jumping Jack Flash yesterday!), Hanners, Smooch, Parker - I think the older hands are finding it infectious.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

I think there's only 5. Add Richards, Spangher to those 3.

Gotta say he showed more footy smarts than I'd seen from him previously, including staying down as the pack flew to score that crucial first goal of the final quarter.

Definitely gave us something and generally the forward line functioned significantly better than it has for many weeks.
