Everyone enjoyed Spang Time yesterday so much so that when he missed that goal after Goodes' two give and gos, that people were laughing rather than cursing at him
Why was he subbed out? Did he pick up an injury ?Comment

Did the Weagles ever give him a run as a forward? He actually seems like the perfect third tall forward, he reminds me a fair bit of a Henry Playfair that can kick- and a Henry Playfair that had solid disposal would have been a very handy player.I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his timeComment

I think he had gone into the game carrying a bit of a niggle, whenever he came off he was getting a lot of work done on his legs and also on his arm/shoulder and that started from his first rest. When he did come off it looked like him being the one to be subbed out had been planned. He seemed to enjoy the rest and was very in to the rest of the game from his front row seat. He clearly knows he's a crowd favourite already, too.I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline

Probably subbed out due to his shoulder. Always heavily strapped and has been holding it uncomfortably at times in recent weeks.
Love me some Spang atm. Thought he was absolute rubbish at WCE (in a rubbish team of course) but he is really giving us something up forward. Perfect addition to our forward structure. Has allowed Goodes to get out of the forward line with Reid and Jesse up forward.Comment

No, from my discussions with Weagles fans he was always an exciting rebounding defender whose lack of accountability on his direct opponent earnt him the ire of coaches and supporters alike.Comment

They didn't need to given their gun key forwards in Travis Gaspar, Michael Gardiner and Ashley Hansen. Oh...

I compared Spang with Bock going to Gold Coast (excluding the team's overall position on the ladder) - exactly the same thing changed his position and is thriving in the forward line instead of being at the back, etc. The commentators made note that usually it's because the players when defending on them have spent time studying the position and then when reversing it, it's a natural fit. Two examples at Sydney that can be used here are Reg and Leo.Comment
