Anyone see Stokes kiss his armband when he kicked a goal for Geelong in the 2nd quarter?
One of his grandparents died. Apparently that's why the entire Geelong side were wearing black armbands. The armbands were probably for both McVeigh and Stokes, and some players wore two.
John Longmire in his press conference acknowledged Geelong for approaching the Swans to offer their support and say that they would wear armbands in support for Jarrad.

Thanks, that explains it. Thought it was an unusual gesture unless he knew Jarrad personally.
It does sound though (as per Kirkari's post) that Geelong were also wearing the armbands in support of the McVeighs.
