Please dont saddle us with a weird thing on top of a capital O, an inappropriately placed small h preceding a capital A in the same word, and yet another weird thingummy on top of the final i .
I agree, I can't even find the "thingummy" on my keyboard (although I like this one ~).
As to his ability, I wish we had had him this year, he would have been a wonderfull at drawing the heat away from young Sam (and who knows, he might have given Jesse some ideas).
As to 2012, I suspect (from what I've read on here) that young Tommy has been recruited for just that purpose, so perhaps he would be superfluous to our needs?

On 2011 form yes but Setanta is 28, White is 23. And we already have White, I don't think we want both - especially with Spangher, Reid and Walsh as well.

Spangher, Reid and Walsh are irrelevant, we're essentially talking about the 2nd ruck/3rd tall position. Setanta's age is of little matter. White is, IMO, unlikely to improve much in this role (I'd be delighted to be proven wrong, mind you); I see Pyke as first choice for this role, and I see Setanta as at least equal to White, if not better, as backup. Having both White and Setanta battling for the spot would be no bad thing.

He's not the highest priority, but if we get through to the PSD and there's nobody else we want to take, I wouldn't be the slightest bit opposed to us taking him.
Officially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!

          Agreed. Drafting IS a lottery.

Considering the money that is poured into the NFL, they can't even get it right. Tom Brady (spit, spit) gets drafted at 199 and situations like JaMarcus Russell occur; a bust with a $31.5M guaranteed rookie contract.

All things considered, we do ok.

If Setanta is only going to be slightly better than White and Pyke is ahead of both, then what's the point in clogging the list up with another so-so key forward/2nd ruckman. May as well take a kid.

We don't need him. I'd rather roll the dice with a couple of kids in the draft.

I agree with te general sentiment that we have enough of that type of player and it was Roos himself that said the Swans needed to focus on more speed. Having said that, we've seen him play in the AFL so there is more known than unknown.

Stuff drafting Sultana, we should use the draft pick on the one and only Waylon Manson!!!

I dont think lack of height will be a problem for us next year. I dont think it was this year. We are a quality forward short, definitely, but like many have said another average one isnt going to fix that. A lack of Speed, run and carry/ spread, and clean and consistent ball users are what is letting us down. Despite having close to the worst goal conversion rate and disposal efficiency for the whole year, we still managed to get some great wins on the board and get into a semi final. From my vantage point watching that final, our inability to get to contests really stood out, contrasted with the Hawks superb ability to spread and break free from congestion when they got a turnove or won a 50/50. Where they always had more than enough runners in support, we struggled to find one. The future for us looks good if we can make some inroads in these areas. I dont think Setanta o Hailpin is going to do much good for us there.

Agree wholeheartedly MB. And one week on Setanta is probably enough! Surely there is some other recycling player out there that the Swans are rumoured to be interested in to keep us focussed this week.

With Judd Murphy Gibbs etc htitting you on the tit White may have matched that.. its was a little harder for White with the delivery into Fwd 50 this year.

                            This.
Not that White doesn't need to improve his fitness and efforts in a contest.
                            White > Setanta IMO

But Saint Paddy day would be so great if we recruited him!!!

And what one more average forward? It not like there is a dozen good forwards out there.

Recruit him and get two more year out of him, and them delist him along with all the rest.
