    Pyke vs Seaby

Which player out of the two will be used this year there has been some discussion about it, in other threads. I personally think that Pyke will get the nod.
I have seen both players do fantastic stuff like seaby's brownlow vote game last year and pyke in the elimination final against the blues.

    Pyke:

    Seaby

I cant find any vids of it but it was a brilliant game

I get the feeling that it's gonna be Pyke. Given the required versatility in the modern game, he's certainly able to play forward or in the ruck. I just feel that he and Mummy would make a great combination.

Seaby... well, he's a good ruckman, but anywhere else on the field and he looks like dead wood.

I love ya Seabs but I really liked the Pike of 2010....especially the game against Freo rucking on his own against Sandilands when I think Seabs was injured and Mummy suspended.

I'll be very impressed if Pyke is considered to be the Swan's backup ruckman should Mummy goes down.

Love the 'don't argue' on the Carlton player.

Pyke's work around the ground is ahead of Seaby. He's quicker and is a better defensive player, plus these days reads the game well. You'd have to play him first.

It been noted a few times, but Seaby is the better No. 1 Ruckman, while Pyke is the better 2nd ruckman/forward.

It's likely that's how it will pan out.

I'm not sure if it has been commented on in here, but didnt Seaby fail a fitness test when he was being shopped around before draft week? This meant all interested clubs dropped him like a hot potato. Does anyone know what the injury is?

Pyke will be ahead of seaby IMO, seaby will purely be used if mummy goes down. In saying that there were a few games last year where seaby could of been really useful, especially up forward but he is the classic case of the interchange rule pretty much ending his career as a regular senior player.

                  A thought - play 3 tall's.

Mummy in the middle, Seaby in the back line and Pyke up forward. Let them ruck their zone only! Negate the resting opposition ruckman with the best fit.

No rest on the bench and only rotate the smalls off the ground..

Swap them around to suit as needed. Forward and back..

Use the sub if one tires late in the game. One speedy Jetta comes to mind..

Well is was a thought. Didn't say it was a good one..?

Good thoughts Rod and one that you would consider, depending upon match-ups. I don't think the 2 ruck thing is dead at all, and some teams are looking at playing 2 rucks together on-field i.e. one as more a 'midfielder' to break open packs. West Coast did it last year with Naitanui and Carlton are considering it with Kreuzer. I also think North will look at ways to use McIntosh effectively with Goldstein. Basically, these teams are saying that if the player is good enough, they'll play them. Flexibility is the big thing here and I think Pykey has the edge on Seaby, however I wouldn't discount all 3 playing together sometimes.

Three rucks? Worth a thought, even if the decision is "No". And as I've said before, three of last year's top four teams played with two rucks, and I emphatically endorse jono's view; one reason Collingwood lost was that Jolly had too much to carry and Brown was not the answer. I'd like to see Mummy and Pyke on together.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Three rucks would probably knock LRT and or White out of the team.

Pyke. Strong mark, quick, great tackle and physical presence and still has upside. Seaby has played some very good games as no.1 Ruck, but as has been previosuly mentioned he doesnt play second ruck/forward all that well. Pyke and Mummy could be a very dangerous duo for us next year.

Hmmmm...... so Pyke and Mummy in the middle. Pyke takes the tap as Mummy runs through the square leaving a trail of destruction behind him. Probably work well until the tribunal met Monday night.
