Both are named in the NAB Cup squad, so perhaps we'll get an idea of what the coaches are thinknig re: these two on Friday night.

And the article on the club site says that though Mummy's named he may not play - so let's hope we get a good look at what 1 and 38 can do.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

He seems to have lost a yard of pace, unless he can pick it back up he doesnt have a spot in the 22 barring injury to Mummy

Maybe thats why he failed a medical with Port

Are you suggesting he played particularly poorly last night? I thought he was pretty good really...I definitely prefer Pyke to be our 2nd ruckman/forward but Seaby (as I've thought for years) is more than capable of being a club's first ruckman.

Seaby is a ruckman not a forward,Mummy is a ruckman too but with more bite than Seabs and the ability to make second and third attempts to clear the ball. We could play all three if White was dropped and IMO we would be a better team.
Last year we played Mummy and white, so to play all three we would need to drop two not one. And without becoming top heavy the other one would need to be Spanger.
IMO Spanger offers far more than a third ruckman

Or both of them, I think Seaby might be a bit too slow to fit into the backline, while Myke will certainly fill a spot in the forward line/ruck. It doesn't look like Jesse is going to make it as a forward, so, and I know I've said this b4, as have others, try him in defence, well, if Marty or Ted or LRT are unavailable for some reason (noooooooooooooooo)

In relation to the op I thought Pyke was much better. In relation to his game time last night I thought Seaby was very average. He was slow, his ruckwork was ordinary and he dropped marks he should have taken.

Seabes is a better tap ruckman and better kick at goal (anyone who thinks otherwise is kidding themselves) Seabes is a noted goal kicker '06 grand final anyone....

Pykey is definitely more mobile, but last night showed in front of goal he doesn't ahve a natural kicking ability. (somethign the whole needs to work on even reid.)

I guess it depends on the game and what the coach wants, we simply cant have Mummy doing the workload he did last year otherwise he will be burnt out by mid 20's..
if you wanting a more FF type and relief in the ruck, seaby would be my choice hands down..Goals win games....
If your wanting mummy to be up forwrad more than you could go with Pyke....

Either way our fowards, Reid, Morton, Walsh, Spanger etc have to kick goals the 1st 2 need to be 30 plus for the year each...

from what i saw last night pyke looked 10x more dangerous up forward then seaby.

I'll agree Seaby has a better kicking technique but that's where it ends for me. Seaby has kicked 5 goals since he's been here and the 06 granny is now a long time ago. There's no question for me that Pykes ruckwork is superior.

no point being dangerous if you can put the ball through the 2 big sticks is my point.
As i said Pyke is def more mobile around the ground. no doubt about that..
but if your deciding on a more FF type roll, i would go more with seabes as he is more accurate in front of goal...thats all my ppoint was..

Seabs has to get the ball first and in the forward line he doesn't take the big mark like a Mummy or Pyke. He is good on the lead but we have a lot of players who are good on the lead and much more mobile than Seabs. I think someone summed it up when they said they couldn't wait to see Pykie monster the opposition like he obviously did in the Saints game. Imagine our own two Monsters mashing up the opposition, legally of course. I mean if big Mummy or Pykie were running back at me I'd soon shift my ass.
