No rest for Swans before Round 1

Neither the Swans or GWS will get a rest before their Round 1 clash in 20 days time.

No AFL break for Swans prior to GWS clash

But we have one before round two. No one else has that.

You won"t trick Ugg when it comes to stats !

I don't see what the big deal is all about in the article. These guys are professional athletes playing the weakest team.

By my calculations we have the week off between Essendon (nab cup) and GWS (round 1) ??

No there will be a NAB challenge game, or if you're very optimistic we'll be in the NAB Cup Grand Final

Full round of matches on the NAB Cup final weekend (see NAB Cup fixture):

Eight Matches: Friday March 16 - Sunday, March 18

                    Dates and Venues TBC

Potential Venues: Etihad Stadium, Simonds Stadium, Blacktown International Sportspark, AAMI Stadium, Patersons Stadium, Metricon Stadium, Manuka Oval, VISY Park
*Further matches may be broadcast on FOX SPORTS in this round.

The scheduling doesn't seem all that well organised (knowing both teams were never going to play in the NAB Cup final) - one of us (Swans - GWS) will play 2 weeks in Sydney and 2 away, with the other having 1 home and 3 away.

You'd assume they had GWS in mind in nominating a game for Canberra, but I guess you could say the same for another Blacktown game that weekend. At worst we'd play at Manuka - surely we wouldn't be asked to travel interstate 3 times (particularly when there is no break before Rd 1).

Agreed. Lets be honest the game against GWS will be willing early, but should be a cake walk for the Swans....Like a ramped up pre season game.
Then they get a 2 week break before taking on 'Mr Mercenary and the purple haze', who would of had only 1 week recovery from their first round against the Cats.....Followed by Port and the Kangas.
Seems like an excellent schedule for the Swans.

Hmmmmm. Seems to be that teams fall back after a break e.g. the week we had off before playing the Magpies over the past few years (last year it was Collingwood that had the week off and we came within six points of a boilover, and of course Geelong, who had the week off prior to being beaten at home by the Swans.

Giants and Tigers in line for Manuka Oval treat

GWS playing Richmond at Manuka which leaves us with Blacktown? That would be a little weird considering it's the Giants' training base and we just played a match in Rouse Hill but Steve's point about being made to travel 3 times is quite valid.

Hey guys if I was Saints coach I would have bailed too. They have an aging list. Have off field problems that never get better. The Administration is sub-standard at best. The recruiting has been ordinary and for the moment not future. The coach had interference from club insiders. You are never going to be totally in charge at the Saints no matter what assurances a coach gets from the board and management. I would never have gone there in the first place it I were an AFL or Potential AFL Coach.
