I think CJK was commenting on the choice of living location of the rest of the GWS team - not that of Izzy.
Another thread about the Melbourne media having NFI about Sydney Footy...

Oh that reminds me of another reason to dislike Izzy - he's originally from Minto, which means that he is a good fit for GWS. However somehow he magically became a Queenslander when playing State of Origin - I despised both Izzy and Inglis for turning their backs on NSW. Now I know the vaguaries of the rules in NRL mean guys like them could qualify as Queenslanders, however I will neever forgive them for that. I wish him well in his AFL career but I won't forget that he turned his back on his roots until he was made a deal that he just couldn't refuse....CJK, he lives with his family, just down the road.....honestly does that actually matter>? Izzy can live with his family down the road a bit if he wants too, why would he be paying bucks to live a just mile or so away.....no sense economically in that no matter what your pay is.
Back on track, I have now lost count of the number of mentions that two of our Swans youngsters, 'Ben' Reid and 'Leroy' Jetta, have already gotten on Fox Footy...Comment

Jono, I hated that Izzy and Inglis played for QLD but it's my understanding the rules didn't allow for anything else. Hard to blame the players choice when the choice was playing SOO for QLD or not playing at all.
Also can you explain your crack about Minto?? Just another Western Suburbs stereotype I'm guessing but happy to have misunderstood your intent...And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

Yes I would think they would be ropable to be called the West of Sydney, right next to Cabrita, just down the road from me. We are Inner West thank you!Not just the Melbourne media what about the old NSW AFL president calling us the silvertails and the Giants the fibros. FMD cause we're the club that got everything handed to us on a gold platter not the one who had to fight for our very existence.
What about that article about Breakfast point. Which idiot bought the idea that place was Western Sydney? 99% of the residents there would howl you down if you suggested the though.Comment

Ropable eh?? I guess I can understand that, if my suburb was classified as Inner West I'd just to have top myself i'd reckon.
Seriously, of all the issues in the world, getting worried about where your suburb is classified is about 1,268th on the list...And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. Western Suburbs won 10 Sydney Football League Premierships. Only UNSW/Easts, Newtown and North Shore have won more. Wests last played in the GF in 2005.At last, the 'fibro Westies' get to take on the 'silvertail Swans'
THE AFL likes to write its own history. The making of the GWS Giants is a remarkable story. But no matter how historic their debut in the AFL is tonight, it is not the first Australian football team to be called West Sydney.Comment

We are still West Al it's just we are Inner West. You have to be accurate with this stuff you know! People get upset. Not that I care a damn what people call it I don't live there and my suburb is West of the City, no matter which way you look at it. But those from Breaky Point and Cabrita don't necessarily think that way. I go to Uni with them and believe me they assure they are not in the West of Sydney, Period!!!

Was a bit disappointed with Gerard and Robbo tonight on AFL360 you'd have thought that our match on Saturday night was just a training run. As far as they are concerned the real comp starts tomorrow night which is a bit unfair. At least Zgeratd had us at 4th in his top 8.I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

It's been like that all week in melbourne. Last weekends game was just a trial and all praise went to GWS, the most bestest team to ever get flogged.
AFL is still a very victorian game, as much as they won't admit it. I was in Sydney recently and the lack of AFL news was actually a great relief. No over reporting of collingwood or carlton nor any grief porn regarding a footballer.Comment

I tend to agree. It's like they're living as far west as they "dare". I admit it does make sense in terms of being closer to the airport for interstate travel and for getting to the city for events etc but they train more often than they travel so I'd have thought a complex in the north-west near the training facility would have made more sense and made more of a statement.Today's a draft of your epitaphComment

Who cares. I bet each player who plays for essendon doesnt live out near the airport. Playing for a club doesnt mean you have to live in the suburb and become part of that areas culture. As for No 1 supporters , I have a different view. Bit rich to call yourself the number one supporter of a club when you dont or have not at any stage lived anywhere near the western suburbs (and I mean the greater west ) and you have no way of identifying with that club other than you generally support AFL and the club iself wants someone with a profile.I tend to agree. Yes, but Essendon dont claim to be representing the Essendon region with an 'us versus them' mentality. The marketing for GWS claims that they represent the region, which has only been used with two other clubs (Gold Coast and Geelong) where there was more than one team in the state. Both of these teams have their players living in the area represented. I find the GWS marketing of geographical representation by players who dont live there a bit ingenuous. Having said that, the irony is not lost on me that it is exactly what we did in our first year as Sydney as well.Who cares. I bet each player who plays for essendon doesnt live out near the airport.
