It wont be until we beat Carlton at Etihad in Rd 19 that they will be afraid. They will be very afraid.

Ted and Regs form in particular ( as well as the rest of the backline of course) is IMO a massive factor in our form this year. We have a very, very good defense built around these two guys, to go with a very deep ad talented midfield. If Goodes can contribute consistently in our forward line and Reidy perks up a bit and learns to kick between the big sticks, we could be very difficult to beat this year.

So now cause collingwood and hawthorn are out of the 8 its because of the "unfair draw" BUT when these clubs had favourable draws for the past years we didnt hear a whimper.

              arrgh.
Hello, hello, hello........there are too many interstate sides in the 8. Better cut their subsidies. Even up the draw for crying out loud to keep these interlopers at bay.

A lot of leagues have a seeded draw based on positions finished the previous year. Only logical that to keep on having an even comp that the top sides get a little harder draw the year after.

So its ok that the Tiges have a tough early season draw...again. What about changing the draw so the interstate clubs have a couple more home games to even up the ledger a bit on the ridiculous block buster situation and 18 home games for the likes of Collingwood, Carlton and Essendon.

                Swans Paper (800x600).jpg

Thought you might like this from the experts at 'Inside Footy'. Brett Anderson says the Swans will lose by 2 points but his decision may have been swayed by the Swans form that is printed underneath. Apparently Sydney have lost to Brisbane by 41, West Coast by 108, Richmond by 59 and Western Bulldogs by 21 (ie Melbourne's season so far minus round 5). On the same page, Gold Coast, Fremantle and Adelaide's season have been totally stuffed also. Coincidence they are all interstate teams? You would think that as we are heading into round 6 someone would have picked up that there were only 4 played games in the form guide for each side and not 5.

Another note. I bought Inside Football this week to see what they wrote about the Swans after the win against Hawthorn and there is almost no mention outside the obligatory match report. The only mentions I can see are,

"Hands up those who left the Swanies out of their eight? Dunce's corner for us! The ease of wins over Freo and North now makes sense."

& "Josh Kennedy is now seriously taking chunks out of Hawthorn's rear end. He's better than Mitchell, Sewell and Lewis."

So that's the match report, the match prediction (with incorrect Swans form that says Adelaide will win by 2) & those two sentences above from 40 pages of news.

You can guess which paper I wont be buying next week.

And that's taking into account Taylor Walker may be suspended.

Strange logic. Crows beat Port Adelaide at home, we beat Hawthorn away, and yet we're not favourites on our home ground.

I am so glad that that the obvious biased towards all melbourne teams is finally being exposed. I keep saying that this comp has been "fixed" since the end of 2006 when the butthurt melbourne media went on a "vic teams must have priority and must play finals every year" campaign because the top 8 posses where mainly made up of "those bloody interstate sides" who didnt deserve to be there.

I guess the summit that "was held" at the end of 2006 had outstanding results as every team who has won a flag since then has been victorian and the draw has been fixed to suit the big vic teams.

How pathetic if you ask me but finally we are all seeing how manipulating the AFL has been for the past 6 years.

Am I right in thinking that this has coincided with Blakey changing to be our backline coach?

Another for the Leroy files, this time on the AFL website: http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsartic...6/default.aspx

While admitting the Swans were hard to beat at contested football, Sanderson said their outside game was also ominous and pointed to the likes of Leroy Jetta as a player who could destroy a side with his blistering pace.

"It doesn't matter who you are, sometimes you can't keep up with Jetta if he gets time and space," he said.

The draw is virtually a conference system now. Did you notice how many non-Vic teams played each other in the first few rounds?
