You wouldnt like to make too many changes, but like most i would seriously look at putting some forwards in the forward line. Andrejs was dissapointing, but would you drop him after that performance ? Maybe. LRT, as has been said 1000 times is a defender and if he has no defensive role, really shouldn't be playing. [MB]

I agree with this sentiment. I am sick of makeshift forwards that just compete. I want forwards that win the ball and kick goals. Yes LRT kicked a sausage last week and competed well but quite frankly I can't wait for Spang to get back. I would also look at Reid at CHF and using Nipper as a fast leading Full Forward just like a Modra. He can take an overhead mark and is good on the lead. TDL and Lamb should be in the mix. At this stage according the the physio it is doubtful Shaw will get back this week and still a doubt on ROK but he is the more likely.

Out; LRT (only for positional reasons), Everitt (till he learns how to hold a mark), Parker (Injured).

In; Any of Nipper, Lamb and TDL and White/Seaby as Pyke is injured.

This is with the understanding ROK is injured but I would still give ROK a run in the resies first to give him some game time as he has had virtually no pre-season games. Shaw has onlt been out a week so could come straight back when fit even after two. I don't believe in playing injured players I think they just let their teammates down. I know they don't mean to but they do in the end because of suspect fitness.

      In: Shaw, White/Seaby

2nd change is only made because 211 and Clarke are coming to town. Any other team (aside from WCE) and I think they'd keep Everitt.

Expecting ROK back I think is a bit optimistic given how Horse talks. "He's a chance" = not playing as far as Horse goes IMO.

Can't see TDL being promoted after one outstanding game against a bunch of teens and not doing anything in the preseason due to injury.
Shaw is not training yet and won't be until late this week. ROK is training but still doubtful. If he is doubtful the Shaw is certain to miss.

I'd probably give Lamb a go, he and Jude can switch mid/forward to share the workload, it's really a question of hardness, I'm not sre how quick Lamb is and we will need leg speed to play Freo. To name a team now would be premature, I'd wait to see if we get anyone back from injury and who is the best ruck combo, I have no idea who plays second ruck for Freo and whether yd want LRT's height or White's strong body???????? They will not play Mummy and Seaby in the same team
Johnathon Griffin or Kepler Bradley will ruck. Probably the former and he is 202cm. In thinking about that I would definitely play a second specialist ruckman. Seabs is actually a very good defensive ruckman and can mind a resting ruck if need be.

Is Zac Clarke injured or something? I thought he was number 2 ruck for Freo?

We will miss Parker a lot. Before he got hit he was on fire. Even after that he was good. What we have here ia super centre clearance exponent. It is no wonder McDonald (GWS) targeted him as he was finding the footy with ease.

Does anyone know, is Parker eligible for the rising star?

I'm hearing you! If they played him in defence where he belonged no one would be angling for him to be dropped. He's a great defender.

Nope - as far as I'm aware you have to have played 10 or under games to be eligible this year ... He played 13 (I think!) last year so was only eligible then.

Can Grundy, Richards, Johnson and LRT all play in defence at the same time?

I thought LRT looked good there last time he played, but Grundy is number 1, Johnson is the future and hasnt put a foot wrong and somehow Ted Richards got out of the morgue back out the hospital door cleaned himself off and go back into the ring and started winning the fight.

Maybe all 4 can co exist, depending on the opposition, but there seems to be a reluctance from the coaching panel to go that way, but rather than drop LRT they plonk him forward, where he battles hard but is not as good.
Theres not much left to say

I reckon in this game we are going to need LRT in defence. Their forward line can be really tall if they drop Sandilands into the mix. Now they could also decide to drop Clarke in there as well and he is 203cm. If they play Clarke off the banch it won't be as bad and LRT may not be needed but if they decide to expose us in height they will play both big guys on the forward line. In the Natural forward set up they only have two talls Pavlich and Bradley. We could more than cope with them.

Fyfe killed us last game at the SCG and Ballantyne really got under the skin....I'm keen to see what plan Horse has for that and whether we can maintain our composure in the face of the niggling.

LRT. Lord Roberts-Thompson. He may look like the Munster, but looks can be deceiving.

Special request from Vlad to the umps dept apparently - "get Wazor up to the SCG next week" :-)

Several games haunt me from last year, Adelaide (Craig's last win), Wretchmond and Freo (Harvey's last win). I need wins against all of them this year to purge the painful memory!
