Even a damn good, hard fought Swans win doesn't seem to placate the negative nellies on this site lately.

We are 2-0 for goodness sake, that's pretty damn good in my book.
    +1 what she said!

It'd be nice if we could all focus on the positives of a win for a few days. It's like some just enjoy it for a few minutes after the siren blows and then move on to picking the victory apart and seeing how they can find things to complain about.

Like someone said earlier in the thread, we don't want to peak this early in the season. That's what average teams do, and I don't want us to be an average team.

I am reminded of my favourite book quote - which I try to drag out every now and then if I can...

It wasn't the size of the crowd that impressed me most, however, or the way that adults were allowed to shout the word "WANKER!" as loudly as they wanted without attracting any attention. What impressed me most was just how much most of the men around me hated, really hated, being there. As far as I could tell, nobody seemed to enjoy, in the way that I understood the word, anything that happened during the entire afternoon. Within minutes of the kick-off there was real anger ("You're a DISGRACE, Gould. He's a DISGRACE!" "A hundred quid a week? A HUNDRED QUID A WEEK! They should give that to me for watching you."); as the game went on, the anger turned into outrage, and then seemed to curdle into sullen, silent discontent. Yes, yes, I know all the jokes. What else could I have expected at Highbury? But I went to Chelsea and to Tottenham and to Rangers, and saw the same thing: that the natural state of the football fan is bitter disappointment, no matter what the score.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

England in the 80's was a depressing place for a lot of people and soccer isn't exactly the most dynamic and joyful sports. We in Sydney live in the best city in the world and we follow a great team playing the best sport in the world so why the hell wouldn't you enjoy a day at the footy when we come away winners?

That's precisely my point, Jono. What I'm trying to illustrate is that people will always find something to complain about - We're 2 and 0, with a heap of improvement to come, and there's still a lot of chatter. The quote I posted above appears to apply universally across all sports, in all locations.

Yep let's just be happy that we are 2 up. There will of course be days when we want to just give the team a gob full if they lose and lose badly. But thus far we are undefeated and we have so much to look forward too this year. So peeps let's just sit back, strap ourselves in and see where this seasons ride takes us.

Havent read through the whole thread but there appears to be alot of negativity towards the team....I think longmire summed it up well in his press conference, freo were always going to come back and they did. I think it is a big positive that we were able to hold on in the end, so yes we are 2-0 and lets just see what happens.

I'd love to be talking about Benny Mac a bit more. Seems a little off the boil to me. I know it's early days and it's a long season but it seem as though he has shifted forward again and his role in the team is not the same as last year. He was rotating with Rohan for the match i believe? I liked Benny last year when he was playing out of the middle and getting his hands on the ball. Seems as though Parker has filled that role and with Jack back in the team it seems that role has disappeared for him completely. He is almost playing like a...wait for it....Doggy Moore. I could be wrong - you cant always pick up everything when at the grounds watching. I'm just wanting more and I hope he starts to find his place again this year.

**OK, just read some of the previous posts about Ben. Definitely not seeing the best of him at the moment. I'm sure he will turn it around at some stage though. Still in the 22 for me as well. Just expecting a lot more from him.

Well I for one feel a lot, LOT better after that game than I did after round 1. I thought we looked much more like a genuine top-8 side with prospects for the future than we did after the GWS game.

Still lots of room for improvement and I think we are still a way off the top 4, but now I have hope.

On mcglynn's game I was impressed by a couple of "desperation" acts he committed - just throwing himself at the ball. He looked hungry for the ball with the kind of "chase-it-anywhere, do-anything" attitude I now associate with Rohan. If he keeps that up, he'll work himself back into form.

What she said. Our first half on Sat was sensational - our pressure made Freo look ordinary, and we even looked good on our forward entries. There's a lot of improvement in players like Reid, Jet, Jack and LRT-the-forward. Lots to enjoy and a good chance we'll be 4-0 in two weeks.

I was so surprised when I got home latish on Saturday night, opened RWO and most of the posts weren't of this very nature.
I thought all of us who love the team would have been thinking this way.

And that's why he is remains in our best 22.

Desperate acts of valour are normal for McGlynn. Maybe his set shots will improve if he visualises he's about to get crunched.
