You don't just get to become ' up there with the big boys'. Like every team that is "up there" , they won sufficient games to be viewed this way. As long as we can Continue to win, the holes in our side will become seemingly smaller and the strengths of our side will look even stronger. Carlton, until there exceptionally good season last year, were not "up there ", but they now are after one extremely good year and a couple of good but not brilliant seasons. . I hope this year is the year that transforms us from the also rans to the genuine contenders. Maybe not quite top 4, but definitely pushing and pushing hard.

Come on guys - even if the Swans were 18th I would still be excited (ok, somewhat tempered) because I would be looking for signs of improvement from the young guns. Same as what we are doing now. Forget our ladder position and just enjoy, folks.

I like the MMM calls - usually Luffie is calling our games.

You still can't listen online thru the individual stations links. If you have a smartphone, the official AFL app released recently allows you to listen live thru that, plus you have a choice of which feed you want to listen to. I listened to the Weagles game on the way home from the SCG on Sat, had a choice of ABC, SEN and 6PR (?)

Maybe once we get Mitchell going..he could be that mid we are so craving and needing atm.

I guess i better stop watching the top teams all together and just watch the swans. That way i can kid myself that we are up there with the big boys.
As this is a Swans supporters forum it's usually a good idea to watch our games, plus a spread of other games, to enable an even analysis of the Swans' performances vs the performances of other teams. That's why I'm so glad I have Foxtel - too much footy is never enough......

Too right Dosser let's just sit back and see where the season takes us.

To me, footy is not fun if you don't dare to dream. Sure, we may again prove not quite to be up there this season, but if you aren't at all excited about our prospects of at very least getting the utter best out of our list and taking the next steps forward, then perhaps supporting a particular team isn't for you. Being a fan means being optimistic about how you might go during a season, or who'll be the next big thing at the club, and dare I say it of being there on Grand Final day again to see our Club Captain lift the Premiership trophy. Very rarely do our dreams come true... but by gee it is what makes the ride fun, and just how good is it when they do come true!

And if you want proof that you don't necessarily have to have the best list, or the most talented, or the most no 1 draft picks to win the flag, you only have to look back to our Premiership. We were not the best team on paper, we were not the most talented, we were not the best team during the regular season, but we were the best 'team' overall and got the job done.

Footy isn't played on perception or comparison of names on a page. You could probably make strong arguments that we are behind at least half a dozen, if not closer to a dozen teams in the race to reach the pinnacle, but if there is one thing this club has consistently done is get the very best out of the lot we've got. And to me, the very best out of our developing list could go pretty damn close to a flag. It may be some way off, but who knows. I certainly dare to dream it possible.

Bring on Carlton, bring on GWS, bring on GCS, bring on the Weagles, bring on whoever else is on paper 'above us'. I don't care who is good or bad at any particular time - if you are good enough to win a flag, then you find a way to beat those teams more fancied. For most teams, it takes a hell of a lot of luck and good fortune along the way to get even close to winning a flag - so lets enjoy the ride! . I know I certainly will - even if it takes 72 years to win our next flag (I reckon I'll be about a 50/50 shot to make it to it!) then so be it, I won't ever stop dreaming of that Premiership trophy again sporting red and white!

Although I'm not a ranga I could probably play the Danny Bonaduce character..... Well the older version anyway. Gary Rohan can play the younger more fresh-faced version....
