I'd like them to retain Armstrong.

So would I, but who would you drop for Smith and/or LRT?

I would be very surprised if white was out. Along with shaw and bird he would have got most votes in 'team' b&f voting.

        Outs/ins: Armstrong- smiff
        Titanium lightning- Goodes
        Insy- LRT

Insy seems to lack the ability to judge the drop of the ball on a long kick IMHO. He either gets caught under or at the back of the drop. It's something that is becoming his glaring fault.

One thing to consider is that York Park is huge. 15 metres longer and 5 metres wider than the MCG. I'm not sure how that plays out in selection but it has to play a role.

I think it matters little to us if we play the game on our terms, when the Hawks have the momentum we could be in serious troiuble and the backline will have to really stand up. Potentially it plays into our run and carry, long kick inside 50 game, as long as Reid, white and co can create the contest

I disagree. The Hawks' run and spread is far superior to ours and on a big ground they will find themselves in a lot of space on the counter attack. Against Norf we were able to stifle it because of the smaller ground and they couldnt get away from us, but now we need to adjust from the SCG to York Park. Not impossible by any means, but it will test us to see just how far we have come in that area.

As has been noted, White v LRT for ruck/fwd is interesting. For me, it is White. I know he is still Mr Butterfingers, but his strength, particularly below his knees, has been impressive. If he keeps bringing it to ground and following up, he?ll entrench himself in the 22, dispute catching, or more accurately not catching, like an Indian slip-fielder.

Whatever the forward line, I am very curious to see if it performs better than in the final v Hawks. Last year, it had me in tears and I just ? *sniffle*? I just? *errant tear runs down face*? I just don?t think I could cope with it again.

I don't agree that the Hawks run and spread is better than out 2012 model. That has yet to be proved on the field of combat. Their delivery is the key. If you can clog up the corridor and go man on man to limit their options they then have no alternative but to kick long. This is something the Hawks don't like to do. The other thing that other than Issac Smith and a couple of others they are quite slow so we should exploit this.

You disagree on whose run and spread is better, but the ability to do so will determine the outcome of this game. Although not on "the field of combat" wolfie . . . . the match review panel wouldn't go for that at all! :-)

Yes. Because I am in Melbourne I have yet to see a live game this year. All I have to go on is what I can see on a limited TV screen, so I am prepared to be corrected by those who have been to a game. Last year our spread was a problem, however if you are now saying that we have sorted this then you have made me a happy dosser.

Waiting until round 7 for a game in Melbourne is a joke. Surely the AFL are aware of the following the swans have in Melbourne? I'd hope they will fix that up next year.

Just on that point, i had a thought recently about the Swans perhaps playing one home game a year in Melbourne, as a tribute to their South Melbourne roots and the loyal Melbourne following. They could wear the old strip. Sydne fans might disagree, but i think it would a nice touch. Would be a great game for people in Sydney to come down for as well. I suppose the Lions would be a fitting opponent, considering thier fan base and Melbourne roots. They could also wear the Fitzroy strip. Am i crazy, or do you some of you think this idea has some merit ? ( apologies for hijacking the thread)

Make it a Brisbane home game and sure, go for it.

We had 12 games in Sydney (bought Bulldogs game), went down to 11 then are back to 12 with the Giants coming in. I can't see the club taking a home game to Melbourne (I certainly hope they don't).
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

If it was againt Brisbane, its not like it would be a real disadvantage to us. It would if anything be slighlty in our favour at least in terms of the crowd. How about if they alternated, 1 year its Brisbanes home game, the next year the Swans etc. ?

                                Goodes for Rohan -seems certain
Seaby stays because Mumford still out
                                Smith potentially for Armstrong

But for me the intriguing one is what the coaches do with LRT V White for 2nd ruckman: defensive or attacking option/mindset?

The former is more experienced, more capable of tracking Roughead, and can move back against Franklin if necessary.

The latter had his best game for a while, adds some structure to our forward line, and seems more mobile (for the larger York Park).
