Early days yet. The quirks of the fixture have conspired to give us our easiest games first with a tough run in the last six weeks.

This season is going to play out like a video game. The early opponents are the easiest, then gradually increasing in difficulty as we play on, hardest villains at the end and then we play the bosses in the finals. Will we defeat the final boss this year? Only time will tell.

We will have a good idea of how we go after we've played 12 rounds.

12-0 - Is it too late to get grand final preference? And why didn't I get on when the Swans were still at double-figure odds?
11-1 - We've had one bad game. Better put in for annual leave for the last Friday in September.
10-2 - We're going okay. Top-four finish is likely. If we make the preliminary final (a good chance) we're a good chance at making the Grand Final.
9-3 - Will we play a preliminary final this year?
8-4 - It's good that we play finals so much but it's getting tiresome to be making up the numbers most years. At least we're not Richmond.
7-5 - So much promise, went to hell so quickly. I hope we make the finals.
6-6 - We're gone. Tough fixture to come. Might win a few more games but I don't see us winning the 12 or 13 games we need.
5-7 - At least we'll get a decent first-round draft pick and avoid the spoon.
4-8 - I cannot believe that we're tanking after such a good start. Why? GWS and the Suns have the first two picks sewn up.

More like "I cannot believe that the entire Swans midfield slipped over and then got 8 weeks for rough conduct. It's so unfair!"

Neil Cordy view on the Swans so far:

One of the strongest midfields, the defence once again giving nothing away, the forward line better but Reid needs Spangher (or LRT IMHO).

What is nice about that summary is there is no mention of Goodes through the midfield. We have the option to throw him in there when needed, but he has enough support now to live in the forward line.

I love the accompanying picture of Reid. He looks mean!

Also the article is quite refreshing.

A fair summary. Rohan was shaping up to be the man to give Reid some relief and draw another key opposition defender but unfortunately, he's gone for the season. I'm not sure Spangher and LRT are the way to go. We need someone hard at the ball, quick on their feet, a good lead and able to take the grabs.

Why do people keep stating that we've had an easy run so far. If we had played and beaten Geelong would they say that? Probably not. But we beat the two teams who have defeated Geelong. Two teams touted as likely finalists. So come on, stop putting our team down with this easy run so far nonsense.

We're just being realistic cruiser, while all our last three wins have been against much improved teams, the fact is none of them were finalists last and you wouldn't pick any of them to finish higher than 6-8 this year IMO. I'm excited by the way we're playing but we have not yet faced a finalist from last year, let alone a contender from last year. I wouldn't say we're putting our team down, more trying to avoid getting too cocky too early. It's only round 4 after all.

                            Round 15 - 2nd
                            Round 16 - 4th
                            Round 17 - 2nd
                            Round 18 - 2nd
                            Round 19 - 4th
                            Round 20 - 6th
                            Round 21 - 5th

                            Round 23 - 7th

Ess vs Carl in Round 21 will be a cracker.

                            Geelong miss the 8.

The eternal connundrum "what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object" was finally solved when David Hasselhoff punched himself in the face.

I saw Gerard and Robbo - good to hear what they had to say. I think they normally have reasonably intelligent conversations on most things (well compared to most of the AFL media) and its nice to see them sitting up and taking notice. We will really see where we are placed on Sunday and once we vanquish the Hawks more and more people will jump on board.....

I was surprised but happy that we finally got some good commentary. And the paid tribute to Goodsie too. C'mon boys you can do it beat the hawks and shut all the doubting Thomas's and Thomasina's up.
