Omg I love you guys. I watch those victory pack Dvds when i am in my darkest moments and they never fail. I can just about recite the commentary. My Psychiatrist and psychologist say it is the best money I have ever spent. Plus I was THERE at the G for the 2005 GF. I can see myself during the song jumping znd screaming witj the complete stranger behind me.

Not sure Al. The game was at the MCG. I remember that game so well because we were en route to Vegas then Seattle for an Alaskan cruise. It was the same cost for us to fly to the US via Melbourne then direct from Sydney, so took the opportunity to fly down Sat morning, go to the MCG and fly out the next morning.

Thanks mate... The game I was thinking about was at the SCG. I know we got rid of the fat padding after it.

He not only made contact....but it was to the throat. Free and goal to Solomon (!!!!!!!!). Oh the memories. Paul Bevan's best ever game....Schneider ripped his hamstring but good and was never the same again. Came back from 40 down to lose by a kick. God I hate Essendon
i maintain to this day, that game was by far the worst umpiring display i have ever seen. we were the better team for decent stretches of the game, yet we just couldn't get near them until the last qtr because the umpire just kept gifting them goal after goal. there was another shocker i remember quite well, lloyd was tackled in the goalsquare, had his hands free, but THREW the ball to a team mate running past for a goal. how the umpire missed that one i'll never know.

i can't remember who the umpires were, but i believe that game was not long after hird called mclaren a cheat. not a bad way to square them up.

lol, we always seem to be on the wrong end of a few umpiring decisions against the bombers, but that was the game the boundry umpire apparently missed mcphee taking the ball out of bounds (he was almost in the stands ffs) where his resulting kick when to mcveigh who scored a grubber on the boundry.

I remember that. There was a big photo of it in the Telegraph the next day showing the ball clearly out. We didn't have "What's your decision?' in those days but I can hear Giesch's voice..."Although it looks like the Essendon player is in the first row of seats, when you consider the camera angle, he was actually inside the boundary".

Everything that I love about sport is in that final goal- everyone at that ground, players and fans, knew that ball was going to Davo and he got it low, fumbled with it and put it through on his wrong foot with just sheer, freakish talent.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time
