I'm not sure he's ever played backline to be honest...unless he did for Richmond's VFL side?
Midfielders his size don't exactly grow on trees and we really need another taller midfielder capable of taking marks around the ground. We should cut the kid some slack too...the injury he was recovering from sounds like a reasonably debilitating one.Twitter @cmdil

He might have privately, but a lot will depend on where we are positioned draft wise etc.Twitter @cmdil

He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)Comment

Even if Dunks would prefer to go to a specific team other than Sydney, he would still be better nominating FS than not.
- There is no way the Swans could absolutely promise that we would take him regardless of where he is bid, e.g. if GC bid their pick 3 we are certain to let him go and he would end up there whether he nominated or not.
- We could have a gentleman's agreement that if he is bid for by Richmond, we would not match the bid, but would take him if any other club bids for him at what we consider a fair price.
- If we do end up drafting him and it doesn't work out after a couple of years, we could then try to arrange a deal with the club of his choice. So this way he can eventually get to Richmond or another club of choice in an amicable way and reduce the risk of ending up in Perth or Adelaide, if that is his desire.
- Nominating doesn't assure he gets where he wants to, but increases the chances that he will.
As stated earlier, there is no advantage for him to nominate prior to 30 October, as this would give clubs that he would prefer not to go to time to put him in their draft plans. By not nominating these clubs are more likely to focus their draft planning on other players, thus increasing his chances of being bid lower and have that bid matched by the Swans.Comment

Carey is still a horses butt, some of his comments on whatever that footy show he's on, just ridiculous. I remeber a Norf game I went to mudpile scg, he marked inside 50 spent 5 minutes drying the ball (illegally), so we asked him if he wanted a hair dryer, then he sprayed it out on the full. I believe we won that game too, nice day
Best. Story. Ever.Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.Comment

Speaking of former first round picks, Dan O'Keefe has had to pull the pin on his local footy career down in geelong because of a serious spinal condition! Pretty sad that a 26 year old will never play the game he loves again...and had to watch from the sideline as his team got rolled in their grand final on Saturday!Twitter @cmdil

I thought he quit footy a long time ago to take up a pro golf careerComment

I think that only lasted a year or 2...played footy for Geelong West St Peters for 3 years in '12-'14 before he swapped to Newtown to chase a flag last season. Not sure he was even able to play a game this year actually.Twitter @cmdil
