The eternal connundrum "what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object" was finally solved when David Hasselhoff punched himself in the face. -
He can consistently play 4 qtrs of football and stop sulking when things don't go right. Didn't see last week but he kicked a bag but wasn't in the top 6 best which tells you something...And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

LRT- 13 hitouts for the season, automatic inclusion
Pyke is going to be having his first run of the year, I think they should have gone with the better ruckman of the two as his backup.I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his timeComment

Jesse might get a few more taps but is generally useless everywhere else. LRT will at least provide a contest and some physical prescence...And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. I appreciate I'm relatively pro-Jesse and you're relatively anti-Jesse, but I don't think that's a completely fair reading of their respective performances this year. Career to date I can understand, but of the games they've both played so far this season I'm not sure- not saying Lewis doesn't offer more of a contest, but I'm not sure the gap is so great to use it as the main criteria for selection; they're pretty much even stevens stats wise, with the only real difference being Jesse is well in front on ruckwork.I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline

Mike Pyke talked himself up as a forward during the week - long-term he's got an eye on the second ruck spot. I'm looking forward to seeing how he's going tomorrow.Comment

I never used to be anti Jesse at all. I proclaimed him the next big thing at the club and even when he didn't improve I preached patience. My patience last year just ran out and in my view he has made no improvements whatsoever.
The coaching staff would be pulling their hair out over a big bodied player with good hands and a good kick whose apetite for the contest is poor and is as dumb as a box of rocks when it comes to footy.
I've said all along I'd love for Jesse to put an entire omelette on my face but sadly I just don't see it happening...And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. Right on. There may not be a more frustrating sight the White, having lost the contest, turning slowly and gamboling after his opponent. Or White, arriving late to a contested ball situation on the opponent's attacking fifty, dropping his knees into an opponent's back. He's definitely better in the ruck contest than LRT, but that's it. LRT is smarter and more committed."Play like you can’t lose."Comment

I just honestly don't think that on form this season Lewis is an automatic, obvious inclusion over Jesse if it's to play the same backup ruck/forward role. I'll definitely be cheering Lewis on, and I hope he has an absolute blinder (and for all we know Tommy is going to be backup so it's more "try something new" than anything else).I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline

This week we're playing at the SCG. So this is not the time to go small (the time to do that was last week, on the MCG).
This week it's time to go tall. Now whomever we pick, I suggest we try something radical and new this week. . . .
A properly structured forward line (and that means 3 tall forwards).
1 Keyforward: I think Walsh (but perhaps White or maybe try Grundy again (either way I think this may be Goodes position in future).
1 Forward/ruckman: Pike or LRT or White (if he's not playing keyforward). Don't really mind which just as long as they realise their role is to run around bumping things (particularly James Frawley).
1 Tallforward: Reid. Give him a chance with some support around him for Puck's sake! Before he gets so badly damaged by the two or three opponents he faces each week that his confidence flatlines (if it's not already happened).Comment

People on here have short memories and rose coloured glasses when looking at players.
LRT has been brave and competitive playing in any position the coaching staff has asked him to play.
He never shirks a contest and gives 100%.
Jesse unfortunately just isn't an AFL footballer. He has talent no doubt and in a passages of play this year i have thought he is starting to get it BUT you can not go through games and just have no impact for 80-90% of them.
I think Horse for once has been brave at selection. I hope it pays off
Really worried about who he will put the vest on thoughComment

I'm not trying to suggest that you never loved the man, nor that you wish him ill will at all- I'm sure most folks would hope that their respective whipping boys suddenly turn it all around and become stars. I'm just suggesting that perhaps you are being a slightly tougher judge on him, whilst acknowledging I may be a more leniant one.
